Think of churches - Baptist, Methodist, one that likes spreading the 'good news'...

PS. I meant to say - the discarded item was something I'd never heard of, but it's in Chambers.

Push me a bit harder...am I seeing chapels here? How many letters in the full word - that might help.

Floundering here. I have the full word answers to 18D, 27D and 42D but can't see thematics. Not even a clue about 32A. Can someone send a helpful signal please?

32 I got the answer from Bradfords - as said earlier, Yesterday is the important word.

27 D. The themed word was new to me . The answer to the clue itself was the second part of a tv show years ago, the High....!

42 The second half of the answer is a 'fair-lead with a top opening through... (nautical'.
