Hello Rusty/Elle,

Have not seen Lassie for a few days either and I've looked in several times today; Some crows every now and then, and the chicks at other times - There was one of the parents in the nest this morning but he/she was facing the wrong way and flew off almost immediately - perhaps Laddie bringing in some fish?

Lovely and warm here - 32C earlier on.

Hey, Rusty!
That is great news about Trotty and team!
And to get a World Record too!
Fingers crossed for Gold later tonight!
We did well in the heats for the Men's 400m semi-finals - two of our three contenders got through - Chijindu Ujjah and James Dasaolu; sadly James Ellington did not.
Jess has been overtaken by five points on the leader board for the heptathlon, by Nafissatou Thiam
So she is now lying in second place.
Kat is now in third place.
Only two more events to go........the javelin and the 800m
And I have an update, too........the Ethiopian, Diro, who fell and completed without her shoe, has been reinstated into the next round as a qualifier.
It seems fair...she was very valiant and so nearly made it anyway.
I am exhausted - this is hard work!

Hello, Pigale!
It is hot here...but fortunately nothing like your temperature or I would be flat out!
I have only seen one osprey in the nest today - not sure which?

Update!
The blog has just been up-dated and the crew seem to think that perhaps Lassie has left today.

Hello, Elle!
And your Andy qualified for the tennis final. so is on for a silver at least!
I believe Miss Thiam has a better PB in the javelin than Jess and Kat, so it will be exciting.
Pity it is on after midnight.
I am very interested in the American girls bikes.
The drive train is on the left.
Something I have never seen before.
I still think Trotty and co will win though!

Hello, Pigale!
Just read Cherry's update, thank you for that.
Looks like we guessed correctly.
Lassie has left, it looks like.
Her job is done.
She has raised three fine chicks and now it is back to Africa.
She will be back next year!

Hello, Elle,
Trotty and co have won the gold with a new world record!
They were superb!
Laura becomes the first British woman to win three gold medals, and she has the omnium to come, yet.
Earlier Jason Kenny, and Callum Skinner, qualified for the last four in the men's sprint, so at least a bronze to come there.
I watched the trampoline bouncing earlier.
It was brilliant.
A Belarus man won and two Chinese were second and third.
The Chinese were so friendly and sporting, it was a joy to see.
One was called Dong Dong.
Isn't that a great name?

Hi, Rusty!
I am sorry for the delay in replying.......I have been riveted to the tennis match between Rafa Nadal and Juan-Martin Del Potro!
What a match! It went on for ever........
Neither player deserved to lose!
It was so very close!
I was on the edge of my seat!
Del Potro won eventually......and so will play Andy Murray tomorrow - about 7.30 British time.
I shall hope to watch.
How did the golf go?
I expect by now you are watching the cycling?
I do hope it goes well... I am all played out for now, and have switched off the TV.
Though I may stay up for the javelin.......!

Hi Rusty,
No, I didn't overlook it ......our posts crossed!
Check the time...only one minute apart!
We must have been typing at the same time!
How unlikely was that?
I am so pleased that Laura and team won the Gold!
Was this yet another World record? because they had just set one, hadn't they?
And we shall get at least a bronze in the men's sprint?
Wow!
We must have gone up again in the Medals League table?
I had to smile at the name Dong Dong (my Chinese friend, prosaically called Margaret, has two brothers called Wing and Wong)
For some reason, it puts me in mind of Chuck Berry's "My Ding-a- Ling"!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, another world record for the girls. (two in one day!)
Becky James has just won silver in the keirin.
Very pleased for her. She has had health problems in the past.
Her boyfriend is George North, the rugby player.
Dong Dong was the nicest friendliest man I have seen at these games, and a real sportsman. And he has a wonderful smile!

Update, Elle!
The final of the cycling men's sprint competition will be between Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner.
So, gold and silver for GB.
Think that is tomorrow.
