Hello, Elle!
Yes, Doddie's a "braw lad"!
I agree about Princess Anne.
She has always been my favourite Royal (though she has competition now from Duchess Kate!)
I think she will have known Doddie before, and Gaby Logan certainly would, through her husband, Kenny.
I saw an article today that Gaby will get an award in the New Year's Honours List.
Doddie has a farm near Galashiels.
I miss the White Heather Club and Andy Stewart at New Year, though!
But that was a few years ago!

Hi, Rusty!
I am pleased to hear about Gabby Logan's getting an award in the New Year's Honour's list.
I think she does an excellent job.
I see her mostly when she is hosting Athletics events, and she keeps several balls up in the air at once, and everything running smoothly...if you will excuse the mixed metaphors.
Yes, the Andy Stewart days are missed....especially at New Year!
(We say this every year!)
"Donal, where 's yer troosers?" and "A Scottish Soldier"......
It is raining hard here.....
I hope you have a fine morning tomorrow for your visit to the cemetery.

Good afternoon, Elle!
Fine day here, but a tad chilly!
Did my cemetery run this morning and a couple of other wee tasks.
The Gaby award story was in the Sun newspaper, so goodness knows how accurate it is.
I like her, so I hope it's true.

Here's a video of "Doddie"!

I liked the part near the start of the film when Bill McLaren described Doddie as playing like "a mad giraffe"!
I have added his foundation to my Twitter list to follow.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
It is good that you had a dry day for your visit to the cemetery.
We have just the opposite here.....
It is warm (ish ) and wet!
It began raining last night......and hasn't stopped yet.
It was a wellies walk today!
I like the video clip of Doddie...he seems a very likeable, genuine person.
And how brave.
I have had a busy morning, but am easing up now.....as I am running out of steam!
I am just taking out the dog.......and then I shall relax (with my feet up......metaphorically, if not literally!)

Hello, Elle!
Still a fine day here!
I agree with you, Doddie's a lovely man.
Sad to see him in tears at the end, but his wife was great with him.
She is a special lady, and she has wed a very courageous man.
I read a biography a year or two ago, of Lou Gehrig, who played baseball for the New York Yankees, who was struck down with a very similar disease.
Lou was a great player, very strong, never missed a game, and known as the "Iron Horse".
Doddie's journey is very similar to Lou's.
I have done little since the cemetery trip, but that was today's "must do".
Been taking it easy since!

Hi, Rusty!
And still raining here!
I have just been unpacking the shopping.....food shopping though, today.
A necessity!
It is nice to receive cards each day, as Christmas approaches.
Ours come from far and wide, many with notes or letters inside, and it is good to catch up on all the news.
I fear mine were rather hurriedly written this year, and perhaps not as informative as usual....but I would never have got them all off in time otherwise.
I might consider an additional email to some people after the New Year.
That might be an idea?
We have just had dinner from the chippy!
Very nice it was , too!

Good evening, Elle!
I did quite a bit of food shopping, too.
The Tesco I visited today, is much bigger than my ASDA and much more choice.
I suspect you have received more cards than me.
I have received three, one from my grandson, one from my cousin, and one from family in Donegal.
I have some to write for neighbours, yet.
I had macaroni, bacon, and cheese, for my tea.

Good evening, Rusty!
Yes, we do send and receive a lot of Christmas cards , but then in some instances it is the main time of year for catching up with some folk.
Although, since the advent of email.....or perhaps, more accurately I should say since I became au fait with sending emails!..... keeping in touch with friends based far away has become far more simple.
I find it easier to type letters on the keyboard, than to write longhand, so I will communicate more frequently.
And it's great to keep in touch!
Will your NI friends be over during the Christmas / New Year period?

Hello, Elle!
Ah, you are ahead of me.
I very rarely send an email.
Most of my communicating is by text messages or WhatsApps.
I don't think the Norn Iron folk are coming over.
They have not said, anyway.
They normally go somewhere warm round about New Year, though.
Lanzarote may be their destination this year.
