Hi, Rusty!
I reported four long posts on this thread as spam....and I now see that our own posts have been renumbered......
I have never noticed this before!
I email a lot , using my desk top computer to do so.
My mobile phone is archaic...it will send and receive texts , but they need to be short or the phone gets confused!
And it does nothing else other than ring!
I do not have Internet connection on my mobile.
I cannot download anything to the phone , so could not get "WhatsApp"..... even if I knew what it were?
I have heard of it though...I think it belongs to Facebook?
Do you text via it......or talk?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, there were a few spam threads.
AnswerBank gets a lot every morning, too.
I think WhatsApp is great.
You can 'phone or text.
I only text, though.
The great benefit for me is I can send photos and it does not cost anything, whereas if I sent them via EE I would have to pay about 40 pence per pic.
All my family and friends use it, too.

Hi, Rusty!
These wonders of technology are too difficult for me to cope with!
My mobile phone cannot take photos, so I do not have the need to send pics anywhere!
My daughters email their photos to my computer.
I manage!
But the Whats App system seems to work well for you, which is good.
I had a recorded phone message today purporting to come from Amazon, telling me that I had requested Amazon Prime (what again?) and they would be taking the money from my account......
I was asked to ring a number to give details.
Uhm...I immediately smelled the proverbial rat!
A phone call to Amazon confirmed that it was indeed a scam!
( and fortunately I am not signed up for Prime!)
I didn't even get the chance to look at the crossword today!

Hello, Elle!
I like my smart phone.
And I am a fan of WhatsApp.
I bet your daughters have WhatsApp?
I have not had the Amazon scam yet!
You have to be on your toes to avoid Prime on the Amazon account!
I had a scam call on my landline about my Internet causing mischief for the last two weeks, today.
I told the girl I don't have broadband or Internet, and she instantly cut me off.
No "goodbye" or anything!
I think I will string her along if I get any more calls like that, just for the craic!

Hi, Rusty!
I wouldn't know about the girls having Whats App, Rusty?
I've just come off the phone to one of them....had I read your post first, I could have asked her!
Although as far as I can gather, they seem to communicate mainly by Facebook!
A practice I abhor!
I, too, told a scam caller this morning that I didn't have the Internet, and he hung up on me straightaway!
My husband dealt very well with an "accident" caller.....
He let the guy go on and on for absolutely ages, and then asked the caller to tell him again who he was, and what did he want, as he (my husband) had had an accident, and now suffered from short term memory loss!
Brilliant!

Hello, Elle!
Ah! I don't do FaceBook!
I like Twitter, though.
I am sort of developing a tale to tell the caller who is 'phoning about "the accident you had that was not your fault".
Along the lines of "It was certainly my fault. I was steaming drunk at the railway station and fell under an incoming train and it ran over my leg and removed my foot, but I manage fine now with my new state of the art Kevlar crutches, and how's your weather in Bombay, today?"
Something along those lines would do?

Good morning, Rusty!
It is cold and damp here, but with a very weak sun peeping hesitantly out.
I added an extra mile to my walk this morning, by walking home!
We have a parcel arriving today, but with a very loose delivery time.......before 9 pm!
I didn't want it arriving whilst my husband was also out , picking up me and dog from the park.
Needless to say, the extra mile was in vain...no parcel!
Yes, these scam phone calls are indeed a nuisance ...a nice shaggy dog story as deterrent would be great!
What are you up to today?

Good morning, Elle!
Beautiful day and very frosty!
I am beginning to look forward to the scam calls, now!
They tell me a load of hooey and I shall respond in kind!
No plans today.
I was at ASDA earlier and they were telling me they are having to 'phone the food bank more often in the last few days to collect the donations from their customers.
A lot more items being donated.
They are collecting clothes and toys, too.
Puzzle was on the easy side today, I think.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, it is lovely here, too, now.
Bright blue sky and sunshine.
I think most of the big named supermarkets have containers/ trolleys set out for customers to donate food or gifts/toys.
It is an excellent idea, and, as you say, people respond well to giving...and especially at Christmas time.
One of my friends wanted to volunteer to help out at a Homeless shelter over Christmas...but was turned down because there are too many volunteers already.
He was very disappointed, but, on the other hand, isn't that heartening, to learn that there are "too many" people wanting to help?
Good for them!

Update, Rusty!
Parcel came.......crossword done!
An easy one today, I thought?
It must be reasonably simple, if I have managed to finish it, complete with answers and parses!
Two new words for me, though.....bean -counter and ked.
I am still learning!
