Good morning, Elle!
A dull rainy day here!
I was out in it earlier, but I think I am home for the day now.
Hope your meeting goes well!
Remember my counterfeit watch?
They refunded my money.
I asked them to send a paid return label.
They replied that I can keep the watch, and they would be pleased with positive feedback!
Now, what on earth to do with it!
Puzzle on the easy side today, I think.
New words to me are, 2d, 21a, 12a.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, a similar reaction to the return of your counterfeit watch to that of my book that failed to match its description of "very good condition".
I was told to keep the first book.
But what did I want with two of them?
I gave the more battered one away!
You could at least keep the watch as a "spare" if necessary?
You did say it would lose only a few seconds per month.
I haven't got very far with the crossword, because various other subjects came up!
A friend popped round to tell me about the public meeting he had attended last night, regarding the GP surgery closure.......and of course we are ourselves going to a (similar) meeting very shortly at lunch time.
As far as I have got with the crossword, I liked 9a: husbandry... I thought that was quite a clever clue.
And 10a: brier....good old Uncle Remus!
I seem fated to get wet when going out to these meetings!

Good evening, Rusty!
Wherever has my day gone?!
Reporting back on the meeting...... it was surprisingly well attended, which was very encouraging.
The main purpose was to alert as many people as possible to the possible closure of the surgery, and to discuss the ramifications.
Ways were also mentioned in which the public could participate in drawing attention to the current problem, and how to address it.
All in all, I should say the meeting went well.
The practice manager is doing an excellent job.
There is another major meeting though on Thursday, where the final decision will be taken by the powers- that-be .......and unfortunately we shall be unable to attend that one.
We shall just have to do the best we can to help in the interim....... and hope for a favourable decision.
Oh dear, I really need a strong coffee !

Good evening, Elle!
You can only do your very bestest!
I hope things work out for the practice and patients.
Weather here is grim.
Rain and more rain.
Tina Turner is 80 today.
That surprised me!

Hi, Rusty!
There are times when doing one's best seems totally inadequate!
But we shall see.
Finger crossed for a good outcome!
On a lighter note....we have Thursday to look forward to, when our son and our granddaughter are coming to visit us!
That will be nice....
It makes a rare change for us to see them both together, as more usually we see our granddaughter with her mum and younger brother.
So this visit will be a treat!
I didn't know that Tina Turner is 80, either!

Hello, Elle!
Think positively and do your bestest for the practice and patients.
It will be nice to see your family, I'm sure.
It is still raining here!
One or two flooded roads around here!

A Very good morning to you, Rusty!
It is a beautiful sunny day here at the moment , but we are forecast rain from midday onwards.
It is mild though.
I hope your flooded roads are cleared now?
I am planning a lazy, relaxing, stress free day ...!
Perhaps I should disconnect the telephone and not read any of my emails...........?
I might even have the time to sit down and finish the crossword!
How about you?
What are you up to today?

Good afternoon, Elle!
Our rain has ceased and now we have fog!
I am home for the day, I think.
I thought the puzzle was tricky today.
New words to me are, 18a, 3d, 8d.
I liked 28a, and 25d!

Hi, Rusty!
And we now have the threatened rain!
I am definitely not going out again today.
Well, my morning wasn't exactly peaceful - I did have quite a lot of phone call and emails regarding the GP practice.
But things do seem to be moving a bit now, and possibly there will be enough response from "those in authority" to hold up proceedings, at least.
We can but hope!
I have done what I can of the crossword......it is the "down" clues that are proving to be my undoing!
I have one 'across' clue, and four 'down' that I cannot yet do.
But I shall persevere (off and on) for a while before asking you for help!
A difficult puzzle though!

Good evening, Elle!
Still fair here!
How are you getting on regarding the GP practice action group?
I agree it was a difficult puzzle today.
I prefer that, mind you!
