Update, to my earlier post , Rusty!
Collins dictionary explains "operator" even better!
I am annoyed with myself now, that I didn't check there.....
I did look in Bradford's and my Thesaurus....but they were of no help.
I have set my recorder for tomorrow's , and Sunday's, Athletics events.

Rusty, Elle, thanks - I don't like mysteries, so was happy to find a reason for the minus/operator stuff.

Good morning, Elle!
Fine day here!
Your shower may just need a new part, or an adjustment.
Your plumber will keep you right.
Re "operator".
It never crossed my mind that it could have a meaning like "minus sign".
The first word that ever threw me in a puzzle, was "priest".
It can mean "a club for killing caught fish".
It is also a name for a kind of pigeon.
Today's puzzle is on the easy side, I think.

Rusty, I enjoyed hearing about your encounter with the 'priest'! I remember a similar experience for me, the first time I realised that a 'flower' could be a river, something that flowed. I felt it was clever at the time, but am so used to it now . I had a similar delight with something 'wicked' being a candle.

PS I didn't enjoy today's puzzle very much, too straightforward.

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
It is a chilly start to the day here, but with hazy sunshine that might eventually raise the temperature.
A good brisk walk for me...and an energetic run for the dog!
No word as yet from the plumber.....I think he is just coming to assess the situation and will do any necessary work sometime next week.
I knew about the other meanings of "priest"........I came across that a long time ago...but "operator" was certainly a new one on me.
Collins put it well, though.
You are well ahead of me with your puzzle..... I haven't even printed mine out yet.
I find that Saturday's puzzle is always easier?

Hello, Elle!
Lovely morning here.
Well, today's puzzle was on the easy side!
They try to make the Wednesday puzzle the toughest.
Hope your plumber sorts your shower out.
If it is an easy fix he should do it today rather than have to come back again.

Hi, Rusty!
It is bright and sunny now...I have not been out again, though, so do not know if it has warmed up!
No plumber.....but my husband tells me now that he had told the plumber to leave the job until next week, if that was easier for him, rather than rush about today!
But he hadn't told me that...!
However, it makes good sense, I am happy with that!
There is no rush, now that we no longer have water freely cascading everywhere!
Yes, a good crossword...fairly straightforward....altho I still have a few parses to complete!
Nearly time for the Athletics Great North City Games!
Are you going to watch?

Hello, Elle!
It is quite chilly here.
I have my fleece shirt on!
Yes, sensible decision by the plumber.
No athletics for me.
I am awaiting the arrival of Misses O and La Bamba.
They are at the Food and Flower Festival.
They each had a cake entered in competion.
Fingers crossed for them.

Hi, Rusty!
You will have enjoyed having Misses O and L-B visit you!
How did they do in their cake competition?
I remember their entering this event for a few years, in conjunction with either mum or gran.
Miss L-B had her photo in the local paper last year!
It was a good afternoon's viewing of the Athletics events.
The City Games was good fun as usual...the competing athletes and the crowd both attaining mutual enjoyment!
And the Brussels DL went really well.
A pity, though, that it was only the Highlights.
Dina Asher-Smith beat Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the 100m!
And also received the trophy for winning the overall Diamond League in that event.
Well done, Dina! This augurs well for Doha!
KJT came third in the long jump.
Sifa Hassan beat Helen Obiri for the first time ever in the 5000m event.
And American Noah Lyles comfortably won the 100m...he gets better and better.
I enjoyed it all!

Hello, Elle!
I think a repeat from last year.
Miss O and Mum won.
La Bamba and Gran came third.
They are very pleased with themselves. Me too!
Dina is becoming a top class sprinter!
And Lyles!
I do not see any stand out acts on BGT tonight.
I am looking forward to Alexa and her dogs, though.
I think Lost Voice Guy is on it!
