Good Morning, Rusty!
Well, my strategy was successful! the boys going to bed an hour later worked like a dream! they appeared by our bedside at 6.30 am. A bonus! I would have been happy with 5.45!
Another beautiful day! the sun is shining, the sky is blue and all is well.
We are planning to have a 'lazy' day - that means not walking more than 5 miles!
We might also do some tidying in the garden, as on Monday I want to go to the garden centre for a few more plants. The boys can help plant them! they will enjoy that.
Their holiday with us is going so quickly! They asked if they could to stay for another week, but cannot as the elder boy is booked in at a residential activity centre next week. It's all go!
I wonder what will happen to this site if numbers of crossword contributors continue to fall? Maybe Ash will diversify a little? Perhaps a Book Club?
I know Doglet and I once discussed that (albeit only in passing and not seriously at the time ) and thought it a plausible idea? What do you think?

Great day here, Elle.
The new Fogartys are a success.
Yes, I agree, the buys will like helping you plant stuff.
Anything that gets them dirty, suits boys!
There is a post on Chatterbank (the Land of Lol!) this morning bemoaning the lack of crossword questions today!
Comments there, suggest it is far too easy to get solutions on various sites. I agree. When I started out, I got Chambers, a one volume encyclopedia, and a Readers Digest atlas of the British Isles.
And it was a joyous struggle completing a cryptic.
Not so much anymore.
I suspect the golden age of crossword solving has passed. Blame it on the world of computers.
Elle, there is a literarture section on AnswerBank and it's use is pretty sparse.
A bookclub would never work.
The trend is towards Facebook and similar sites, and watching television morning until night.
The world is in flux!

Good morning
Well, the final result for crossword questions yesterday was:
this site: 7
the other one : 76

I don't why they are complaining at 07.03 hrs. that there are no posts today. No one would have bought the paper at that early hour. Methinks someone is having a laugh over there.

A laugh, Jazzgirl?
On reflection, probably.
It was a post on Chatterbank, not Crosswords, so....
Several posts now though.
A great day here, hope it does not get too warm!

Hi, Rusty!
I'm glad your new pillows are a success! I have Fogarty feather and down pillows - very comfortable!
I've just been requested to play...guess what?... another board game, so only have a few minutes!
I've been on the phone to my (younger) daughter and we have planned the food for tomorrow's picnic. The only thing we have yet to decide is where to go!
Re looking up crossword solutions on the computer.... I don't do that unless as a very last resort... altho I agree with you that, where once I would pour over a reference book, it is very tempting to google the answer.
I cannot get over those folk who ask for the answer on the forum, when they themselves could google it.
But, on the other hand, maybe they just like the 'human' contact? It is nicer to 'talk' to a 'person' - if only a 'virtual' one- that talk to 'Google'!
Now, Ludo awaits... then we are going out for walk with the dog!
How about you?

All good fun!
Hope you have a good day!

Elle, there could be a lot of folk new to the world of Google and prefer a "human" answer!
And Google can be wrong.
Ask Google where the smallest loch in Scotland is, and you will be told in Dundee. Lies!
Some clot, at some time, has posted this, and now it is accepted because Google says so!
I think on this forum most of us are quite old, and in many cases (mine certainly!) are new to Google and the world of computers.

I think we are actually in agreement there , Rusty! I did temper my original comment about looking something up on Google, with the further second opinion that the requester probably preferred a 'human' touch!
It's by far friendlier!
Much nicer, as I said, to talk to a 'person' than look something up on an inanimate site!
And I further agree with you that some sites do not provide accurate information! Not everything on Google can be taken as 'gospel'!
(So where is the smallest loch in Scotland, then?)

Elle, YOU are a friendly soul, and well-mannered in your dealings with folk on this forum, but not all are like you.
I would not mind a shilling for everyone who I have helped on here who could not manage a friendly "ta"!

The smallest loch? I have not the faintest idea.
The largest, by volume, is Loch Ness, by area, Loch Lomond. The deepest is Loch Morar.
Smaller lochs are called lochans.
So, when does a loch become a lochan?
When is a lochan only a biggish puddle?
There is no formula that I know of, to provide an answer.
However, it is not Loch Nineacht at Dundee, which is what the Google search engines tell us.
No such loch!
The Highlands are full of lochs of all sizes, many nameless.
Is it vegetable plants you shall buy?

A belated Good Morning to you Elle.
Just got home from the village bakery and about to enjoy a coffee and pain aux raisins.
Very late in starting any crosswords today. Too hot to think here. ( 25c already.)
Have a good day
