Frank Patterson was an Irish tenor from Clonmel, County Tipperary, and had a simply beautiful voice. He was known as Ireland's Golden Tenor. He was mostly known for his sacred songs.

I did not know that about Frank Patterson.
There is/was a part of Dundee known informally, as Tipperary, or Tip..
It had a huge Irish population.
I have spent quite a bit of my life disassociating myself from Daniel O'Donnel.
My old Mother loved him, too!

I have just discovered how to do "right-click" on this chromebook!
Just tap the touchpad with two fingers.

As you know I love damsel and dragonflies. Could you describe the one you haven't IDd?

A Libellula depressa got itself in my conservatory a while back- was so concerned to let it out I didn't take a photo. It's common name isn't any better, sorry. Large, flat, powder blue abdomen.

hi ros
I am looking at the digital image on camera.
It was taken with a zoom lens as I dared not move in any closer. It is much smaller than the banded Demoiselle and had alighted on the tip of the bird pole. It has a yellow head and a patterned yellow thorax.. The "tail" part is yellowy/light orange and the short pair of wings seem to have a pinkish tinge. Best of luck !

Hi, Rusty!
We had a great day out at the farm. We had a bit of trouble finding it ....I had copied written instructions from the farm website but in practice they didn't turn out to be very explicit! A very nice man with a very up - to- date phone came to our rescue - providing an instant map!
The kids enjoyed stroking all the animals and learning various bits of info - altho eldest grandson and I thought that more information should have been forthcoming - like how to care for the animal or bird in question / what it ate/what its natural habitat is etc etc....mostly all that was provided was a name /breed.
Gramps took lots of photos - so the grandkids can show their parents what they saw and did!
The tram rides went down a treat!
Did you get your pillows?
I remember your recording the "Danny boy..." programme - it was several months ago though, surely ?
Still, your mention of it led to some discussion so that was good.
I liked the Harry Belafonte version; also that of Bing Crosby - although I've heard many people sing it.....like Johnny Cash and Paul Robeson, and a woman? Would it have been Judy Collins?
Which is your favourite recording?
Just popping out to collect the dog from my friend's house ....then it'll be time to cook the boys' tea.......

Good afternoon, Elle, from summery Scotland.
Well, at least the trams were a success!
And "seeing" the animals even if there was little else forthcoming.
You did not see the Old Grey Goose?
Yes, I got pillows at Dunelm Mill (do you know it?).
They seem (Fogartys) much better quality than ASDA brand.
Yes, Danny Boy was a while ago, but I can keep them forever in my "planner".
Next up is The Trainer and the Racehorse, about Sir Henry and Frankel. Then, the Pipers of the Trenches.
Johnny Cash, in my opinion, was not up to singing a song like that. Bing was not in the programme.
I don't know Judy Collins. But there was a lady singer on who had a lot to say about it. Her name escapes me.
Bonnie Greer spoke about it, too.
I think my favourite version was by John McCormack, and Elvis was very good too. I have always thought that Elvis was a far better singer than he was ever given credit for, away from the pop music.
And Harry Belafonte has a lovely voice.
PS. Boys like fish fingers!

Does it have white legs?
Possibly a female white-legged damselfly.

The legs look white/pinkish, but it was in full sun so difficult to tell the exact colour. I have googled so many images. It could be a golden dragonfly even !
