Hey, Rusty!
I think tomorrow is going to be a "Grandparents' Rest Day"!
So inspiration for activities can go on hold until Friday!
Daughter is taking the boys to visit their friends for lunch. Then she will bring them back here for tea; going out herself in the evening with some of her friends (from when she lived in the locality) whilst we babysit!
Then Friday morning she will drive home, leaving the boys with us until Tuesday.
We have plans for a trip to a farm one day, and for a picnic at the weekend (possibly Sunday?) with younger daughter, son-in-law and youngest grandchild (the 3 year old)
I think that only leaves two days unaccounted for? I am thinking about that....any ideas?
I think you must be 'tougher' than I am! despite your temperatures being lower! I've been wearing a denim jacket early mornings since the end of our heatwave - although by afternoons it's been warm enough to go out without a jacket or cardigan.
But I'm definitely not ready for Autumn just yet.......
Where are you off to with the girls tomorrow?

Hello Doglet!
We've mostly had a sunny and warm day, although we did have a brief shower lunchtime, but luckily whilst we were in the restaurant! It was dry and sunny again by the time we'd eaten and left!
We only has slight drizzle here on St Swithin's Day - I'm thinking maybe he never noticed?!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, a canny day at home sounds fine!
I am sure the boys will find something to do.
Folk are saying the mornings are cooler.
But I have not heard the geese passing overhead yet.
My youngest son is the weather expert of the family.
He sniffs the air and watches the crows and then tells me what kind of weather is coming!
My jacket is a lightweight golfing one. Perfect for an airy morning.
I am not sure where we are going tomorrow. It is after Miss L Plate's driving lesson, but her big sister is likely to be there, too.
Going to have a go at my crossword, now!

Hi, Rusty!
I'm all behind with the crosswords, too, with being out all day with the grandchildren.
I've only just completed yesterday's Times Quick Cryptic.
I'm now about to look at today's xword!
I spoke too soon about our weather! Shortly after I'd told Doglet that we were having DRY weather here, the sky went black, and the thunder roared and the lightning flashed... the dog took cover behind the sofa.....and the rain came down in torrents!!
Oh dear!
Now, I'm interested in the crows..... we have such a lot of them in the local park...... how does their behaviour indicate to your son what the weather is going to be like?

Hello Elle, Rusty and Everone,

Something I heard once ;

If crow flies low, wind's going to blow
If crow flies high, wind's going to die

For what it's worth !

Elle, I do not know!
I can't tell a crow from a raven from a jackdaw!
But he is in tune with nature.
Knows the best time to go after the salmon etc
I depend on Accuweather!
Cattle, apparently, always graze in a North-South axis.
Is that to do with weather?

Rusty, I had heard that cattle graze in a north- south direction - I believe it's something to do with the magnetic field? Apparently birds use the magnetic field too - rather like a GPS?
But what I DIDN'T know - and have just discovered by googling the issue - is ....wait for it.....that dogs POOP in a north- south position?!
So, tomorrow morning's park project.... study the crows.... and do a survey of all... er.... 'performing' dogs!!!!

Salmon, too.
The dogs'll be the easy bit.
Now what way's North!
American buffalo always face into a blizzard, too.
Whereas we would turn away from it. Or, I would.
