Hello, Elle!
Our rain is steady.
On for the day by the look of it.
Yes, I have done my puzzle.
I have "peacetime" for calm period.
Collins tells me that "pace" can mean "with due deference to".
Place "E" for European, inside "pace".
The fellow is "Tim" with another "E" European.
I liked "estrangement"!
My favourite clue today!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, I didn't know that meaning of "pace".....
Thank you, I understand the parsing now.
Yes, 20a: "estrangement" is a good clue!
No rain here...but it is drizzling over in Roehampton, where the Wimbledon Qualifying rounds are being played.
The courts are a tad slippy.....
Nicholas Mahut has just gone out to the Australian JP Smith
A pity, as Mahut usually does quite well in the initial stages at Wimbledon.
An unlucky draw for him.
I looked in on Eastbourne, but knew neither of the women players, so stuck with the Wimbledon Qualifiers.
Are you watching any tennis?

Hello, Elle!
Still steady rain, but not the deluge that was forecast!
No, I have seen no tennis today.
Is it on Red Button?
I am expecting my grandson to visit after work today.
Looking forward to seeing him.
How are you and Outlook getting on now?

Hi, Rusty
Sunshine here now!
I am watching the Eastbourne tennis at the moment, as Karolina Pliskova is playing Margarita Gasparyan (both Russian players).
Pliskova has taken the first set.
I'm "switching" according to matches!
The Eastbourne tennis is showing on BBC2 all the week.
The Wimbledon Qualifying rounds are on the Red button.
All, of course, are played on grass courts.
That will be good to see your grandson.
It is nice that he is now living so much closer to you.
Yes, Outlook is okay........
I am ignoring its latest whims, and just not clicking on those icons, as my daughter advised!

A senior moment.....

Hey, Rusty!
How's it going?
I have had a zizz!
I think it must be the aftermath of last night's roof top exploits!
I hope the cat doesn't visit us again tonight!!
Update on the tennis in case you didn't watch....nothing untoward so far, that I have noticed....
I watched Carlone Wozniacki win in two straight sets... a good match, although the score doesn't indicate that.
How was your grandson? Did you have a good catch up?

Hello, Elle!
That cat seems to be a pest!
I have not had tennis on.
I watched some of the football, earlier.
My grandson was great company!
He went home briefly then out to play in the five-a-side football competition.
They play every Monday.

Hi, Rusty!
Well, we are certainly wondering what is the particular attraction about OUR roof!
And however does the cat get up there?
There is no apparent access?
Still, the main thing is that he comes to no harm, and we get him down safely.
(And we are coming to know the neighbours very well, which is a nice side effect!)
We too have a grandson who loves football!
Although as yet BB is only seven, he is mad keen, and goes to Football Club whenever he can, and training sessions in the holidays.
When he is eight, he will be able to play for his school team!

Good morning, Elle!
Looks fine outside, after yesterday's rain!
Was not too bad here, but I hear further South, in Edinburgh, had lots of flooded roads etc.
The cat would probably find his own way down if left alone?
That's good that BB enjoys his football!
I have watched some of the football at the Women's World Cup.
I like it.
A higher standard than I expected.
I have a couple of things to do this morning, then have the day to myself!

Good morning, Rusty!
Wet here....
I am just back from my walk.
I, too, out for the rest of the morning......
There is just time for a quick coffee, and then I am away to have my hair trimmed.
I should be back home by lunchtime.
Catch up with you later...….
