Hello, Elle!
Yes, La Bamba is super!
And she has a lovely nature, too.
This is her only day off this week, too, as she is doing extra hours, covering for staff on holidays.
Rather you than me watching the Conservative candidates!
I'm sure you could find something else to watch!
I don't think there was any play at Queen's today.
Andy Murray plays on Thursday.
Wonder how he'll get on after his operation?

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I have several recorded programmes that I could watch, but I was interested to hear what each potential PM candidate had to say for himself!
I had rather expected it to be mainly Brexit orientated, but the questions came from all quarters of the public, covering a diversity of topics.
Obviously the very nature of the programme and the limited time allowed for the candidates to answer, meant that it was all very rushed though...and consequently not very satisfactory.
A question on "Fifteen to One" was "Who played Father O'Malley in "The Bells of St Mary's"?
I am sure you will know the answer to that!
It was a lovely film, wasn't it?

Hello, Elle!
I have a heap of recorded programmes, too.
Did any of these candidates mention my TV licence?
They have been going round in circles on Brexit for years and I don't see that changing any time soon.
Father Chuck O'Malley was played by Bing!
A super film, indeed.

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
How are you feeling this morning?
I hope there is some improvement.
It is a damp day here......with the threat of more rain later.
I wonder what it will be like in West Kensington....will we have tennis today?
"Going My Way" - the prequel to "The Bell's of St Mary" - was an excellent film, too.
I presume Bill Bryson must also have watched them.....as he was envisaging Bing as a priest in his (Bill's) "ideal" village!
Time now for a coffee!

Good morning, Elle!
Lovely day here!
I'm not too bad, thank you!
BBC2 are showing tennis from Queen's this afternoon.
I think I remember Bill writing about Bing being the local priest!
I still think there is room for the Waltons as well!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, it hasn't rained any more here....so maybe Queens will be able to catch up with its schedule, after a dismal wash-out yesterday.
According to my computer, there are already matches being played, although there is no viewing on BBC 2 until 1 o'clock.
I think I read somewhere that Andy's match has now been put back till Thursday, as a result of yesterday's bad weather.
I have finished reading "The Lost Continent" and have now started "Neither Here nor There" - tales of Bill's touring of Europe in 1990, enlivened with episodes from his past in the early 1970s!
I wonder what gems I shall uncover......?
He really is very funny!

Hello, Elle!
It is raining heavily at Ascot!
Great day here.
Could be there were matches on Red Button earlier?
Bill B is very funny!
He's been a favourite of mine for a long time.
I wondered where he lived now and looked him up.
He lives in Hampshire and has a flat in London.
Last I remembered he lived in Norfolk.

During an earlier residence in England he lived at Kirkby Malham, not far from me. I loved his description of the "Malhamdale wave" - if someone driving meets someone he knows coming the other way, he will raise one finger from the steering wheel. You still see it!

I was very disappointed with all the gratuitous bad language in his most recent book about Britain.

Hi, Rusty!
And it is raining at Queens, too!
The matches have been suspended!
I was watching Dan Evans playing Stan Wawrinka.
But it is NOT raining in my neck of the woods!!!!
Whoever would live in West London (Queens) or South-west London (Wimbledon)?
They always have rain......whilst it remains fine here!
Now that is strange about Bill B..... you say that he currently lives in Hampshire...and indeed that is what Wikipedia says.....but the blurb on the back of my book cover says "NEW Hampshire"....which is, of course, in the USA.
I had read this and assumed that he had moved back to America?
I wonder if it is a printing error?

Yes, Chris...I remember Rusty and I discussing this a while back......
I also was disappointed by the sudden influx of Bill's (unnecessary) bad language.

Hello, Elle!
There is always more rain in the West!
I think you are correct about Bill living in New Hampshire.
A wee bell is ringing.
I think I read "Hampshire" in Wikipedia, I'll have to check, for the last I remembered, he lived in Norfolk.
I agree with you and Chris about the bad language.
No need for it, and for me, it spoils the book.
I felt the same recently, watching a golfer I like a lot, Tommy Fleetwood, being interviewed, and he used the "f" word.
I was astonished, and rewound the picture to confirm what I heard.
Tommy is no longer one of my favourites!
