Good morning, Rusty!
A dull and very much colder day here, today!
A brisk walk!
I have a leisurely day before me......
I shall start by making coffee....then maybe look at the crosswords......it will be nice to have a "rest".
Tomorrow I shall be busy again.......I am going shopping with my (younger) daughter, and then BB is having a sleepover here, and spending Friday with us.
It will be fun!

Hello Jigjag!

Une très bonne année à toi aussi, and only the best for 2019!

My back having finally improved a lot, I shall soon attempt having
a go at one of my puzzles (sitting down initially) -
As is the case for you, I do not need the dining room table for a
while, so board can fit nicely at one end of it.

Hope you had a great time!

Hello Elle and Rusty!

Glad you both had a great time recently.
We (friend and I) had an excellent day yesterday, joining our other
common friends in their French house a few metres down the road!
good food and drink, and more importantly a good catch up on our
various news. It was great to be all together again, even though three members were missing. We did remember them and reminisced
about the 'good old days'!

Good day, Elle!
Lovely day here with hard frost.
All is white, but the sun is starting to make inroads to the frost.
Good luck with the puzzle.
I found it to be quite tricky, today.
It's a championship puzzle.
I did not go for a paper today but did it online.

Hello, Pigale!
Good to hear you are getting out and about!
I have common friends, too.
They're the best kind!
I agree, it's good to catch up and reminisce.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Still dull and grey.....not a very propitious start to 2019.
Some sunshine would have been nice - good for the soul!
I made an attempt at the crossword....I found it very difficult?
I have not finished it.
If I may borrow the answer to 5a.......I am too "wimpish" to carry on with it!
I am not in the mood for any further mental effort!
Have you watched the programme about the HMY Iolaire, yet?

Hello, Pigale!
I am glad that you and your friends had a good get-together yesterday
Yes, occasions like Christmas do make us remember poignantly those who are no longer with us....
But we can be thankful that we do have happy memories on which to look back, and, as you say, reminisce.
May 2019 be a good year - happy and healthwise - for all of us!

Hello, Elle!
It is a great day here, but cold!
The puzzle was tough, all right!
Yes, I have just watched the programme about the Iolaire disaster.
It was excellent.
They had film (from 1973) of several Lewis men who survived the sinking, telling what happened.
But overall an excellent, well researched programme.
It was awful what happened.
After four years at war, and now the war was over, and the men were coming home, and were within 100 yards or so, of home, when the ship struck the rocks and went down.
They say Lewis is affected to this day by what happened.

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that you "appreciated " ( a more appropriate word than "enjoyed") the programme about the "Iloaire".
Yes it was a most terrible tragedy.
To be so close to home and one's loved ones .......
It is still dull and miserable here ......and getting colder by the minute!
However, I am (stoically) just going out with the dog........before it gets dark(er)!
Back in a bit…...
