Hi, Rusty!
I think I once sent you a recipe for stuffed peppers........
I am not surprised though that you never tried it!
But they really are delicious!
The poor dog is going frantic......
Once upon a time, when fireworks were restricted by custom to Bonfire Night only, it was possible to give one's dog or cat a sedative to calm them .....
But now that fireworks go off almost every night from Hallowe'n to New Year's Day, this is no longer a plausible remedy.
Just think how many canine drug addicts we would have .....!
Seriously, though, fireworks should be banned!
Or at worst, the private sale of "bangers" should be stopped.
Well done, Roger Crabtree! (whoever he is!)

Hello, Elle!
I shall stay with my tried and trusted foods, I think, Elle.
I noticed this morning in ASDA, there was a special stall being set up for selling fireworks.
Fireworks are dangerous and I would support a ban.
I think Roger competes every year.
I have seen his name previously.
I am watching the Breeder's Cup racing from Kentucky, just now.
Frankie Dettori has just had a winner, but the horse I am really looking forward to seeing, is Enable, the Arc winner.
No Arc winner has gone on to win a Breeder's Cup, and I think Enable is the thirteenth to try.
She runs at 8.56 p.m. our time.
I am going to "possibly" have a wee bet on Molly Huddle in the New York Marathon tomorrow.
I am looking forward to watching it.

Hi, Rusty!
The fireworks are still banging away!
Coming from all directions…..
I have been wondering whether our garden hose is long enough to reach the main noisy offenders...
The fireworks party appears to be in the neighbouring street, but the gardens back onto each other ...
The house in question is two doors down across the back fence.
The hose isn't long enough of course...which is just as well as otherwise I would be sorely tempted to give them all a good soaking!
Grrh!
My poor dog!
And all the other poor canine and feline sufferers listening to this cacophony!
How did Frankie Detorri and Enable do in the race?
Did they win?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, she won!
Great ride by Frankie, too.
First horse to do the Arc and Breeder's Cup double.
I feel sorry for all the frightened pets at this time of year.
A blooming shame!
I just do not see the point of noisy fireworks.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, well done , Frankie and Enable!
Now, the New York Marathon......
I wish that I were able to watch it!
Do you think that Molly Huddle might win?
I might be inclined to put my money on Mary Keitany?
Or maybe Vivian Cheruiyot?
Although I don't actually know if they are racing?
I have heard nothing at all about the race.
Don't forget that you want to record Michael Morpurgo's "War Horse" tomorrow......

Hello, Elle!
The New York Half Marathon is on first and the weather forecast is good.
In my heart I do not suppose Molly will win.
But she's from New York State, so I'm with the home town girl!
I hope she or Shalane Flanagan wins, though.
I may take each of them against the field, just for fun.
A pity you can not see it, Elle.
I do not think it is on BBC Red Button either.

Hi, Rusty!
The BBC Red Button was on Bill Bryson's list of things he most hated!
And speaking of Bill.....I have just come across an episode in "Little Dribbling " recording the death of William Huskisson (presumably he of the Board of Trades Act 1823 fame; one of the few history facts that I always remember)
It seems that William Huskisson was the first person in history to be killed by a train!
I am nearing the end of my book, only about six (out of twenty -six) chapters yet to go.....

Good morning, Elle!
Fine morning here!
I do not remember Bill not liking the BBC Red Button?
A fairly inoffensive item, surely?
I wonder why? Was it too complicated for him?
I did not know about the unfortunate William Huskisson.
I wonder does Bill still live in England or did he move back to USA?
I thought he lived in the Norfolk area, but could well be wrong!
I am glad you like "Little Dribbling" anyway, if I may put it that way!
I have made a small investment on Molly Huddle to win New York today, at 40-1.
Just for added interest, you understand.

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
A lovely morning here, too, although I have not been out yet.
The fireworks lasted until the small hours ...about 2 am.......and all four of us..... me , husband, dog and cat suffered accordingly.....
Four in a bed!
Husband and dog are now catching up on lost sleep.....
And I have just finished the Everyman!
We shall go out for a walk in the early afternoon.
Yes, Bill put "The BBC Red Button" as Number 7, in a list of 15, called "Reflex Loathings", to be found in the chapter about Cornwall.
Bill has lived in quite a few places across the UK - certainly Norfolk and Yorkshire -but I think he now lives in Hampshire?
He took out British Citizenship, didn't he?
He mentions this in "Little Dribbling".
For your sake, I hope Molly Huddle does well......
40-1 is very good odds!
Yes, it adds a little spice to the race!

Hello, Elle!
It has turned into a lovely day here!
A pity these fireworks are causing distress to so many folk and animals.
I am against them.
Did Bill say why he loathed Red Button?
Seems a bit odd to me.
Now, Hampshire. Is that the English one?
I remember he moved to New Hampshire for a while.
It is Molly Huddle who is important, not my wee bet!
The 40-1 represents her chances of winning (according to Paddy P) so she is not realistically expected to win.
An underdog to the big guns of the race!
There are two other Americans fancied more than Molly.
Shalane Flanagan and Desiree Linden, but I have gone for Molly!
