Pigale, I enjoyed it.
The scenery, too.
Nice to see Bernard Thevenet being remembered!

First one this year that I've had the chance to watch live, rather than highlights. The riders were so spread across the course that the cameramen couldn't cope!

Sad to say I missed about an hour between 3 and 4pm as I am still suffering from the affects of a virus from last week and I found it too hard to keep awake. I wonder if Tejay has the same virus. I enjoyed what I saw and the scenery was beautiful, as expected.

I'm going to have to rely on watching the Highlights this evening, as we have been out all afternoon and only came in about fifteen minutes ago.
I've been reading up on the teams tho - thank,s Pigale and Jazzy, for the links - so hopefully I will understand the references !

Am I right in saying that, because of Tejay van garderen dropping out, "G" moves up a position

Hi Rusty and ChrisE,

Were they lucky not to have had the rain and thunder that was feared ! I think it's all happening now which is OK. But that descent would have been deadly and Pinot was lucky to be able to get back on is bike..

What incredible speed though - Did you see the clip done by Greg Lemond with a camera on his bike? breathtaking.

You picked the right stage to watch ChrisE, but the next three days will be well worth watching too ! Nothing is certain yet, even though Froome very much looks like the potential winner. Yet, I retain some hope for Contador ....

Yes, it was nice to see Bernard Thevenet being remembered, and I notice they are referring to P. Sagan as to another Poulidor ! I feel sorry for him

Jazzgirl, theoretically, yes.
G would go up one place in GC.
i do not know where he finished though, or if there were any who finished ahead of him who could have gained time on him. Will check the GC later.
Very sad to see Tejay abandon.
He is one for the future though!

If you use the 'steephill' link I gave you, right underneath the picture of sunflowers, you can click on Results and GC - there you will see the first 20 who arrived today, and the first 30 in the GC as of today.

Tomorrow morning, in that same spot, you can click for a stage preview with the route very well explained and then the names of some favourites for the day together with the reason why they are picked up. It is very interesting to read what they have to say about the route before the beginning of the race.
