Hi, Doglet!
It's a pity you aren't going to Kew Gardens today - the weather is glorious! whereas rain is threatened later in the day tomorrow!
Are you going to the "Full of Spice" Summer Festival there? it sounded very interesting - I did have an email about it- but must have deleted it!

Hi Elle

We have to go tomorrow as we have got seats on a coach .We will have shelter in one of the Palm houses if it rains although we have had rain daily so I am used to it,Perhaps St Swithins prediction is true

hi pigale
Just spotted you on another thread. Thought I would answer it here. The scenery is spectacular, especially the Gorges of the Tarn. I have never visited that part of France, only much further South. When I was in Paris, I shared a 2cv with a friend. Great little car

(Copy of my post on the other thread)

Hi pigale et al
I think the original categorisation of climbs was based on the gear you had to put a 2CV in to get to the top - Hors Categorie defeated the car!

Hi ChrisE,

I did not know about how they categorised the climbs, it's interesting ; but you know, we did make it to the top of the Tourmalet, much to my father's relief!

We had three 2CVs consecutively (my father drove a lot for his job), and I wished he could have kept one of them - the original ones are worth a fortune now !

Hi Kenyatta

They are bringing Bairstow who has done very well this season instead of Ballance but I still think they need a new captain

Hello Doglet
Bairstow has failed as a Test batsman once already but, if Balance had to be dropped, then he is the man in form at present.
This decision will have maintained the Yorkshire balance (sorry!) in the side which, as a southerner, I find a little difficult to take!
Cook, I think, suffers from only ever being a cricketer (and a very good one) but I think this restricts his ability to think 'outside the box'. I also wonder who, of the current side, could take over and retain Cook in the team. Root is not ready yet, despite what M Vaughan and other Yorkshire commentators say!
Where is another Mike Brearley when you need one?

Hi kenyatta,
Just read that Bell now faces the axe if he doesnt score runs but Cooks run rate has been poor for sometime but he seems to be untouchable, perhaps the next match will go in our favour

Morning everyone,

Hi Rusty, hope you are reading the thread ...:)

I just looked at today's stage in detail and then took a look at the weather forecast - thundery rain likely I think; Thus, the descent of the Col d'Allos might be even more dangerous than usual if on wet roads;

On big favourite though must be R. Bardet who did so well on this part of the stage in the Dauphine - a rather dare-devil descent ! But if it rains .....

Have you got a favourite ?

Hi, Pigale!
I'm still finding the Tour somewhat hard to follow - thanks to Rusty's expert explanations I can now understand the jersey system, but I think where I'm mostly having problems is knowing who rides for what team?
When you all talk about a specific individual, I am lost!
Will I wake up one day and see 'the light'?!
