Hello Jazzgirl

Thank you. I'd forgotten about the MW. I used to be able to get TMS on it 2 cars ago!
I shall try again. The next time you are in your car, do you think you could see what the numbers for R4 are? By numbers I mean the waveband (?) or something. Radio 5 is 909, for example.
Armed with that information I shall attack what is laughingly called the 'Infotation' system (ie radio) in my car.
Again, many thanks.

Kenyatta and Doglet, sorry to hear (or rather guess) of the cricket result - still, it is only the second test match is it not?

I had intended to listen to some of it on Radio 4, while watching the early part of today's cycling stage, but I simply could not tune in;

This often happens when we get extreme temperatures and / or thundery atmosphere; well, today the maximum temp in the sun showed 45C, and it did feel slightly humid/thundery heat by mid-afternoon. I don't understand why it should affect it though

Morning, Doglet!
Thank you very much for that - it never occurred to me to check the red button listings!

Malone, if you're reading this, thank you again for providing the number of the red button - it works fine keying it in - brilliant!
(thank your son, too)

Elle, glad my red button tip is proving invaluable. Your thanks make up for the pitying look my son gave me when he enlightened me.

I'm at loss as to how your son knew the number?
Even now, I cannot find any reference to a number in connection with the red button?
but no matter- it now works!!!!!!

If I press the 'Guide' button on my remote this shows what's currently on tv - you can go through all the channels, by pressing the 'up' and 'down' buttons (again on the remote). Just above the listings for BBC 1, 2 etc is '603 RB 3', above that is '602 RB 2' and '602 RB 1'. (The last named informs me that it us currently showing 'Golf, The Open - Leaderboard'.)

Hi Malone
I 've just tried that.....
Mine simply goes down by numbering: 1 BBC1; 2BBC2 ;3 ITV1 etc., then when I get all the way down to to 301 it shows 'Red button'!
but the other numbers you gave me 302, and those in 600s simply show 'channel unavailable or scrambled'
Golf is now being shown on 301.
Whatever, thanks to you (and your son) I can now access whatever is showing on the red button, which is exactly what I needed !
