Good morning, Elle!
We had very welcome rain this morning!
I'll try and catch some of the tennis later.
Today I have le Tour and the Scottish Open Golf Championship to keep an eye on!
The Tour takes priority!
I did not know Sloane was in the mixed doubles!

Hi, Rusty!
We are finally home again1
We had a lovely time this morning, visiting our previous elderly neighbour and his daughter and her husband.
It is his birthday tomorrow and he will be 95!
I have just switched on the television to watch the Women's Singles Semis......
Angelique Kerber playing Jelena Ostapenko, with Angie having taken the first set.
You sound to be busy......cycling and golf!
How is it all going?

Hello, Elle!
Well done on visiting your old neighbour!
I saw a little bit of the doubles earlier.
I have Le Tour on now, though.
A long way to the finish, yet.
My son is not coming to see me tonight.
He is fishing the Isla.
We had some rain earlier and that should help to freshen the river.

Hi, Rusty!
I found the women's tennis matches somewhat disappointing.......
Fairly easy wins - two straight sets in both matches - for Angelique Kerber and Serena Williams , who will now meet in the Final on Saturday.
I have been compensated, though, by a good Men's Doubles between Mike Bryan and Jack Sock against the Brit, Dominic Inglot, and Franko Skugor.
The Americans won.
Although it was very close!
You will miss your son coming to visit tonight!
Will he come tomorrow instead?
He usually does that , if fishing on a Thursday, doesn't he?

Hello, Elle!
I watched a bit of Jamie Murray and Victoria's match.
Was quite entertaining.
I look forward to my son visiting, but the opportunity to fish the Isla is too good to turn down.
May see him tomorrow.
Think I'll text Miss O to see if she fancies the Pine Cone tomorrow.

Hi, Rusty!
I've been catching up with BB!
He was telling me how much he enjoyed his Sports Day yesterday......although unfortunately his House came last!
He is disappointed, too, that England lost yesterday....!!
Jamie Murray and Victoria Azarenka won their match...I don't know whom they play next?
How is Le Tour going?
How did Pete Sagan do today?

Hello, Elle!
Oh dear! BB's house came last!
Not to worry!
Yes, he will be sad that England missed out in their semi-final.
But, they are a young team and should improve.
Has he a favourite player? I like Harry Kane.
Murray and Azarenka play Clarke and Dart tomorrow.
I do not know who they are?
In Le Tour today, the stage was won by Dan Martin.
Dan rode very well!
Sagan was round about 8th, I think.
In the first ten anyway. He was fine and is still in green.
Brittany looked very lush and green.
I liked the French countryside.
They go to Chartres tomorrow.

Hi, Rusty!
Harriet Dart and Jay Clarke are both British tennis players - only very young...
I think Harriet is 21? I'm not sure about Jay.
I didn't realise they were still in contention.
Well done them!
Sagan did well.... I do not know Dan Martin?
I am listening...and half watching ...a programme about the Carpenters' music that I recorded.
I have always loved listening to Karen Carpenter......
I think we have all her songs!
Do you like her?
She and Katie Melua are my favourite female singers!

Hello, Elle!
I'll try and see a bit of the mixed doubles tomorrow, then.
I prefer the doubles to the singles matches.
Dan Martin is an interesting rider.
Born in Birmingham, I think, he was in the British Cycling programme but felt they were not backing him sufficiently well, so he left and took out an Irish passport.
He represents Ireland internationally.
His uncle is Stephen Roche, the Irish rider who has won both Le Tour and il Giro.
Dan is very good when there are short sharp climbs in races.
Riders like Dan are known as "puncheurs".
Sagan, Valverde, van Avarmaet and a few more are "puncheurs", too.
He has won Liege-Bastogne-Liege and the Tour of Lombardy and quite a few other races.
No, I would not put Karen Carpenter as a singer I liked.
Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou are my favourites, and Amira Willighagen!

Hi, Rusty!
If you want to want to watch Jamie Murray and Victoria Azarenka play Harriet Dart and Jay Clarke tomorrow, the match is on at 3.30 pm on Court One.
( I did not recognise the names of the other set of Mixed Doubles Semi - finalists)
The match clashes, though with Rafa and Novak's Semi-final, which starts at 3 pm on Centre Court.
I might need to Channel hop a bit!
I shall watch Rafa's match..... and check on the Mixed Doubles in the rest breaks!
Have you heard back from Miss O?
Are you going to the Pine Cone tomorrow morning?
