Good morning, Rusty!
It is much cooler and fresher today!
The dog walkers were out in force this morning, and all smiling and energetic!
As yet it is overcast, and dreary looking, but I think we are promised sun for later, but the temp will only reach 22C!
A blessed relief!
I took another look at Johnny' s accident...and unless a tree jumped out into the middle of the road when I wasn't looking, I don't see how the motorist could possibly have swerved to avoid one!
All trees were by the wayside....... and stationary!
A weird incident!
I am trying to discover when Del Potro and Simon continue their match......
What are you up to today?

Good morning, Elle!
It is cooler here, too.
My gas engineer has just left.
All is well!
I have no plans for today.
My boiler service had priority!
Yes, just dreadful driving by the TV car driver.
She tried to blame the poor tree!
And the Lord only knows why she did not stop to see how the riders were, like a normal person would.
The riders are well used to crashes but not to being knocked flying by a motor car!
Poor old Johnny!
And discussing Johnny on the podium should help you to get 28 across!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, that is good that your boiler is "fit and well" for the Winter onslaught!
I am wondering now when our annual boiler service will be due....I have a feeling that it must be sometime soon.
I must look it up.
I have already finished my crossword...... bar one answer, and a parse.
I didn't think of Johnny when putting in "polka dot"........
I should have done, shouldn't I ?!
I'm ashamed to say I didn't know James Polk was the 11th American president, and had to look him up!
The one I cannot do is 22d: A couple of leaves ? Or as many as you like (1,4)
A?O?O
And how does 29a:" martyr ", parse please?
BTW, weren't there a lot of anagrams in yesterday's puzzle!

Hello, Elle!
I knew Polk, but when I saw the "k" I convinced myself it was "Ike"!
Took me a wee while to unravel the clue!
To "leave" is to "go", Elle.
A "go" twice, giving "a go go", which gives "a go-go" or "a gogo".
It means "lots".
The other one "martyr", is "arty" for "pretentious"
The title is "Mr", around "arty".
Quite a good puzzle.
I have it in my head that Mr Rogan only allows five anagrams in a puzzle?
How many were there?

Update, Elle.
This article mentions the "five anagrams" rule.

Hi, Rusty!
Oops! I am exhausted!
I feel as though I have played every last shot with Angie Kerber, when she finally took the match on her seventh match point!
Well done, Angelique! now she is through to the Semi-final!
I switched channels for a moment just in time to see Jalena Ostapenko win her Quarter final.
But for me, the match I most wanted to see was the unfinished match from yesterday between Juan Martin del Potro against Gilles Simon.
I was pleased to see del Potro take the fourth and final set!
Now, back to the crossword...thank you very much for your help!
"A gogo" is a new term for me!
I had never heard it before - and would never ever have got that!
Thank you for explaining "martyr".
I didn't know about the five anagram "rule"?
I didn't quite finish yesterday's puzzle....just ran out of time and inclination as I was tied up with watching tennis.....
And I no longer have the puzzle ...it is in the recycling bin!
I didn't count the anagrams.....but at a guess, at least five?
Possibly more as the puzzle wasn't completed?
Right, still two more Quarter-finals to go.......
How is Le Tour progressing?

Hello, Elle!
Goodvyou are enjoying the tennis.
Not much going on in Le Tour...so far!
There is/was a famous nightclub in California called Whisky A Go Go.
Anne Bradford has "a-gogo" under "abundant".
I have found yesterday's Times and can only see 5 anagrams.
Pub bars team - rubber stamp.
Plain cash - ship canal.
Case bound - subdeacon,
Little urban - bullet train
Single fleas - self sealing.
Another convention is, the name of a living person is not allowed with the exception of "ER" for the Queen.
But, ER could be King Edward, too.
Quite warm here, now.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I've had a great day of tennis!
Serena won her match , but, from the little I saw, she had a hard fight - her opponent was good!
The other quarter final, on at the same time, was the better match , though, so I stayed with that one.
Julia Gorges beat Kiki Bertens - but wow! it was some match!
It is the Men's Quarter finals tomorrow !
I hope I am home from BB's Sports Day in time to catch some of it!
I recognise all of those anagrams from yesterday that you mentioned - so I had got them all!
We have sunshine and an increased temperature here , too, now, like you.
But we do not have Wimbledon's breeze!
But it not uncommon for us to have better weather - and certainly less rain - than they have over in SW19!

Hello, Elle!
I watched a bit of Andy Murray talking in the studio to Sue and Tim.
Was entertaining!
I think I'll try a bit of the football match on TV now.
I have a coconut yogurt (large) to eat, too!

Hi, Rusty!
I saw a bit of Andy, and Tim, with Sue, too.......but I switched to watching the Men's Doubles!
Mike Bryan was playing for the first time without his twin brother, Bob, who has had a hip operation.
Mike (who is the right-hander; Bob being left) teamed up with Jack Sock.....
The pair went on to win their match.
Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares are still playing on Centre Court; they are up two sets to one.......
I hope a coconut yoghurt isn't all you are eating?
We decided to celebrate the cooler weather (after a diet of salads!) by going to the chippie!
Very nice it was, too!
