Hello, Pigale!
I am sure your cats are family!
I stayed up after the bells for a while.
Like you I was once up all night, but those days are gone!
I like browsing YouTube, too.
Some great stuff there!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I shall certainly see what I can find out about EuroSport's offerings!
Possibly, I may find time to watch.....
It all depends on how the flu is treating the rest of our family!
Our elder daughter and the boys have been hoping to be able to come down and stay over the coming weekend.....
But although the children are now back on track - and back to school tomorrow! - their mum still has a temperature and was far from well when I spoke to her yesterday.
So plans remain up in the air!
I hope your friends in Ireland and Norn Iron are not too badly hit by Eleanor.
And indeed, that the storm doesn't reach you!
It is very windy here....and still raining!

Hello, Pigale!
Your weather forecast sounds fierce!
I hope the winds are not too bad and do not disturb you very much.
We have a huge copper beech within reach of the house...like you , we worry when there is a storm.
But our cat is very calm.......it is the dog who reacts to everything!
Yes, you are right...life moves on.... we have to adjust.......

I am really scared of the storm, I can hear it raging round the top of my hill. I have a huge, preserved lime tree very close to my house. No-one should ever be allowed to grow a lime tree in suburbia unless they have room for it to shed all the nasties it does on their land and property, and room to fall without damaging other houses.

I'm sorry to hear you have no family, pigale. Have you completely recovered from your fall last year?

Hello, Elle!
I had a look at EuroSport schedules this morning and there were loads of tennis programmes!
The folks over in Norn Iron have it fairly bad.
Quite a bit of damage to garden furniture and pots etc.
They'll be fine. Winds should abate around 2/3 in the morning.
"The dogs bark and the caravan moves on."
There appears to be quite a bit of 'flu about.
A couple of days and your daughter should pick up.

Hello, Rosalind,
Hope things go well with you and the weather.
It should pass in the early hours.
Try not to worry too much.

Hi Ros,

Thanks for your concern - These situations just happen - Everything
was pretty OK until 2002 when I lost four close members of my
family in the space of 5 months! (including mother and father!)

In truth, I do have some cousins somewhere in France, and some
in America (from my own side, not just from my husband's) but
we have never seen much of each other - In fact, some I have never
met!

My back is 99% better, thank you, and the last 1% will just never
recover - it just means that I can't do too much physical effort
in one go before being in agony - so things like hovering etc...
sometimes take three goes! I does annoy me though!

I know there are listed trees, (I thing this is what you mean by
preserved?) - I mean listed with the Historical monuments -
If this is the case, I don't see how any power that be can possibly
list such tree when it can be a potential hazzard to a neighbouring
property!

PS Ros, I too hope you will not suffer at all from the storm;

No storm damage, thank goodness. I think the wind directon was unusual which made it howl round the chimneys much more than it normally does. At least on top of a hill I am well away from any flood plain.

I lost 4 of my family 2001-3 pigale- I think that's how it happens sometimes. also have 5 cousins, only one of which I would recognise!

The tree has a preservation order, which means a large fine if it is cut down without permission. The owner could have done so when he bought the land to build his house, but he showed it on the plans as coming down and the tree preservation people were on it the next day! I would have to pay to prove it is a danger and I suppose that actually it isn't, being only about 70 years old. It cuts light from my living room and solar panels; nothing I can do about it. My garden is full of leaves, bracts and seeds and all summer feeding aphids drop sticky stuff which gets blown onto my car and house windows, attracting wasps.

Sorry to hear about your back-is an old fashioned carpet sweeper any better?

Avery good morning to you, Rusty!
The heavy rain has finally stopped!
The ground was extremely muddy and slimy this morning......
A disgustingly dirty dog resulted!
She took some cleaning up!
However, a strong wind is getting up now......it might well be a day for remaining indoors from now on.
How is it with you?
"The dogs bark and the caravan moves on."?
This is a new phrase to me?
I'm thinking it may mean that someone will make a fuss, but life goes on regardless?
We have no specific plans for today.......we shall take it how it comes!
I shall check on sick daughter later... our son has partially recovered from his flu and is now back at work anyway!
What are you up to today?

I am glad the storm by- passed you, Ros.
I hope you, too had a quiet night, Pigale.
The rain fairly lashed down here, but the wind is only just getting up now.
I don't think we are due (supposedly) for much disruption around here, though.
I've got unknown cousins scattered about, too!
( It seems to be an occupational hazard!)

Hello everyone,

No storm damage here either - so far anyway, since wind still
very strong; but I think the worst has passed, according to the local
radio reports anyway, because I personally heard nothing!
It seems several 65 miles/h gusts were registered around here, but the
worst is still happening along the North-East coast and in the
very Eastern areas.

You appear to have no solution regarding the tree next door Ros -
Unless you want to pay costly procedure; Are you on friendly terms
with your neighbour? I suppose there is not much he/she can do
either - I read that the fines for cutting lime trees were quite hefty!

As for my back, I can live with it Ros, quite frankly there are
people who are a lot worse than I - It just frustrate me not to
be able to do what I used to be able to do only 6 months ago!
I feel inadequate, particularly when I cannot even rake the leaves!
But it could have been a lot worse.

Elle, I had not realized that your son has had flu too - I suppose this
is why he could not come and visit you recently?
I hope you and your husband escape what looks like an epidemic!

Good morning, Elle!
Beautiful day here!
Storm Eleanor did not call here, I am pleased to say.
I like the name "Eleanor".
I agree with your interpretation of "my" phrase.
I suspect it may come from the Bedouin people, or the Tuareg folk, but that is only a guess!
Caravan is used in its original meaning.
Hope your daughter is on the mend!
Now, I have just finished my puzzle.
I found it to be a right tester!
It was one of the three used in the Championship final, so it had be a fairly difficult one, I think.
Took me over an hour to finish it!
No plans today, but some tasks tomorrow.
EuroSport 2 has tennis all day.
Skiing on EuroSport 1 !
