elle- if you have never watched "Father Ted" elle, you wouldn't understand my previous post. Those are about the only words Father Jack ever used! The story line was three priests who had been sent to a fairly remote island for misdemeanours (Father Ted himself was alleged to have stolen some money, which he always denied). Father Dougal was very childlike and dense. It doesn't sound funny, but it was.

Crossword setting software creates templates of many kinds to choose from for the black and white squares, different shaped puzzles etc. When you start filling it in, you can get word suggestions using the crossing letters you have. Some also suggest how you can split the words up to clue them, or suggest anagrams. I believe most publishers require crosswords for publication to be submitted in theformats supplied by the software.

Hi, Rusty!
Now, the only clerical type sitcom that I can recall - and actually enjoyed - was one from my long distant past...
I think it was called "Oh, Brother!" ?
Would that be right?
Derek Nimmo was in it...he was very funny!
I am still "jobbing" ..... I don't know where these chores have popped up from!
I am not earning any "Brownie points" this morning..... I have so far washed my husband's wallet, containing money, bus pass etc......in the washing machine!
Well, he did leave it in an inside fleece pocket, that I did not even know existed!
Please note, I had checked the outer pockets.......
And I HAD asked him to empty all pockets prior to washing the jacket!!
Now I ask you, whose side would the jury come down on here.....?
(No damage done, wallet and contents all drying on radiator)
Now what shall I do for an encore.........?

Hello, Ros.
Thank you for the explanation regarding Crossword setting software!
All new to me!
I used to know someone who compiled crosswords for a living!
Had I been interested in doing puzzles then, I could have tapped him for information!!

Hello, Elle!
Definitely your fault!
I trust you have apologised to your husband!
Anyway, no harm done by the sound of it!
My favourite one, is hearing something rattling away in the washing machine.
Usually a coin, or a pen left in my shirt pocket!
And it is only me here to blame!
"Oh Brother" is a misty memory, just.

Definitely not your fault, elle! Interestingly, my son does the family washing and ironing! You are lucky the money and bus pass are OK. I washed a one opound note once and had to take it to the bak to get another. Luckily the number was still OK.

I once tipped my library book into the washing machine with my washing in a Laundrette. I couldn't stop the machine. The colour from the cover ran into some of my underwear and the book was totally ruined. I was existing on £5 a week at the time, of which £4/4/0 was for my landlady, so what the library charged me was very difficult to find.

The roof of my gingerbread house is now covered with choc drop tiles, Now they have to have snow added! Always loads of jobs at Christmas, elle.

Hi, Rusty!
Now I know you are just winding me up.........
I refuse to rise......
(Besides, all are drying out beautifully!)
I am half way through the Cryptic puzzle ......
Yes, 15a is a good one!
I like 8d and 12d, too.
I am taking a break for a while......brain is tired......and doing some hoovering!
Inspiration may strike on my return!

Thanks for the solidarity, Ros!
And your gingerbread house sounds lovely.
I am surprised you can bring yourself - and allow others - to eat it!

I don't even like gingerbread , elle!

Have no difficulty cutting my cakes, that's what they are for! Even my Jubilee copy of whatever crown it was the Queen was crowned with. The cakes are of little interest to me when finished.

Have now snow lined every tile and done rows of icicles from the roof (they are fun). Next is the smarties and the chocolate trees, for which I have moulds (already done, but have to have snow on them, too). My grandson requested a white chocolate gate, which is causing me some problems. And I have done a cat, which his mother wouldn't recognise.

Hello, Elle!
I am sure the wallet etc will be fine!
Yes, a good puzzle today, I thought.
Having a wee break from your puzzle is a good idea.
My son has just left.
He came to see me earlier than I was expecting!

Hi, Rusty!
For some reason, Saturday's crossword is always a nice one!
I have "finished" bar four parsings .......these I shall mull over, from time to time.....
I liked "stablemate", "recalcitrance" and "gimcrack" in this latter section.
"Gimcrack" was a very good one!
It was nice for you to see your son.
No Christmas post so far today by Royal Mail...a few hand delivered cards though.
Including one from someone to whom I had not sent one........oops!
I must pop out with dog before it gets too dark.....

Hi, Rusty!
I have been sorting out the list of programmes that I had recorded and not yet got around to watching.......
And guess what I found........the Steven Spielberg film of "War Horse"
based on Michael Morpurgo's book!
I saw a brief excerpt from the play, but have not yet seen the film.
I wonder is the film good....have you seen it?

Good evening, Elle!
I wondered if you would get "gimcrack".
It jumped out at me because the Gimcrack Stakes is a top race at York.
And the crossing letters indicated it.
"Mig" is a Soviet fighter aeroplane.
I think the "M" is for Mikoyan, but do not know the "ig" bit.
I had "incalcitrance" for a while, before it occurred to me that it may not be a word!
I agree, it was a fine puzzle, today.
