Hi, Rusty!
I have been reading that the widely advertised "Winter Fest" at Crystal Palace Park - where the Sholach trees are being sold - has been closed down due to adverse weather conditions.
This was to have offered a skating rink, rides for children, and a Santa's Grotto, amongst other attractions.
Plus mulled wine in the food tent!
It looked most attractive from the advertising!
However, I am not really surprised by its failure.........
Last time we were up there, the whole "Winter Fest" area resembled that of a building site knee deep in mud!
It looked nothing like the advertised pictures!
I gather that visitors were furious about its state - and children bitterly disappointed.
It seems to be hitting the headlines in local papers.
Do you have this sort of activity up your way?

Hello, Elle!
I have not heard of anything untoward about Christmas activities up here.
It is a blooming shame that the Crystal Palace site was such a huge let down, especially for the young ones, and those who travelled a fair way to get there.
"Adverse weather conditions"?
To be expected in the depths of Winter, surely?
They should have planned accordingly!
Who put the Winter Fest on?
Local council?
Not good enough, by any standard, I'd say!

Update, Elle!
Just Googled the Winter Fest.
It looks awful, nothing like the colourful brochures.
All the comments about it, were very negative and scathing!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, indeed, a huge disappointment!
I don't know who organised this, but there appears to be a similar "Winter Fest" set up in Croydon.
Google "Ashburton Park, Croydon" to see wonderful advertising!
No pics of what it is actually like "in the flesh" though!
I wonder if this is the same company as organised the Crystal Palace Park set up?
I agree with you, whatever did they expect in the middle of Winter?
Surely the authorities should have realised what the weather might bring forth?
And to add 'insult to injury', the local advertising is still in place.
The posters do not have "Cancelled" notices stuck across them.....so folk are still turning up with their kids!

Hello, Elle!
The Daily Mail says that Crystal Palace Park is run by Bromley Council.
They have been asked to comment but have not done so.
Not so good!
It does not say, however, that the Council were running the Winter Fest.
But you would imagine they agreed to whoever is running the Winter Fest that it could go ahead?
It seems at best, very unsatisfactory and a big let-down for the public, though.

Good morning, Rusty!
Wet and mild!
Horrible!
Bring back the cold and the frost!
Right...... walk accomplished....filthy dog cleaned.........
And we are just off to the Crematorium with our wreath, dropping off a Christmas present to our (ex) neighbour (at his daughter's house) on the way home.
Then I can relax......
I hope you have some sunshine?!

Good afternoon, Elle!
Fine day here, just a touch of frost earlier.
I was out earlier.
Asda, Screwfix, and Tesco.
I was ages getting the tiny bits of foliage from my wreath, off the car carpets (did it by hand, there was a queue at Asda vacuum cleaner!)
I noticed the shops busier than usual today.
Hope you and your husband get on fine at the crematorium, and your old neighbour is to the fore!

Hi, Rusty!
I am home, and staying put now for the remainder of the day!
It is still wet here.......and suddenly uncomfortably warm....
Everyone is wearing the wrong clothes, and our houses are too hot.......
We are suddenly turning down the heating and throwing open the windows.....
You would think it were Summer!
Yes, wreath delivered to the crematorium....marble slab duly cleaned.
Christmas presents delivered to our neighbour and his family......
I am now going to look at today's crosswords......
I expect you have done yours?
