Hello, Elle!
I have BT protect service, too.
Had it for several months and it worked great until I got new car.
I arranged my insurance on 'phone.
Since then I have had several calls asking about my "car accident".
I have not had a car accident.
I wonder if insurance company passed on my number to the 'phone pests?
Anyway, it is not a great problem for me.

hi rusty
The scam 'car accident ' calls are mostly from abroad, using fake UK numbers.. They even call people who don't own a car. No reputable car insurance company would ever pass on your phone number. It seems to be just coincidence that the scam calls arrived after your new car purchase.

Hello, Jazzgirl!
Yes, the callers sound foreign.
What I wondered is, if they got my number from insurance company, with no other details, they may have thought I had had an accident, and was buying a replacement car?
I found this, hope it works! https://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/apr/21/accident-nuisance-calls-insurance

The scammers are good at finding ways around legislation and some are operating illegally . They claim someone has been in an accident when they haven't, which shows they are just making random calls to people. Add them to your blacklist

Help Jazzgirl!
I have not added any numbers to blacklist.
How should I go about it?
Phone or online, maybe?

You can blacklist them immediately after the call, (using 1572) providing the actual number is available. If not, go online to bt.com . I will try and find a link in a mo.......

No, that's fine, Jazzgirl.
I'll use 1572 in future.
Thank you!
