Good afternoon, Elle!
Still a great day here.
Lucky you with the shoes and Chinese lunch!
I don't think there is a permanent statue of Dennis in town, but....we do have a Bash Street!
Named after the "Kids"!
And not too far away, at Kirriemuir, there is a statue of Peter Pan!
My son should be here later.
Not heard from him today.
Puzzle not too hard today.

Hi, Rusty!
I may see if either of the girls would like to give me the shoes as a Christmas present.......
When asked the other day what I would like as a gift, I was unable to think of anything......
This may be one solution!
Ah, the Bash Street Kids......!
I am wondering whether my son still has any of his old Beano Annuals stashed away....they should be of value now?
I must ask him!
Apparently I missed both daughters phoning whilst I was out........
Your son will be arriving soon.....
Have a nice chat together.
P.S. I see Bing got a mention in the crossword.......only an anagram though!

Good day, Rusty!
Already gone midday.....and I am only just able to stay online.......
My computer has kept crashing and rebooting...I have no warning to shut down ...it just suddenly happens.....
This began yesterday evening, but has since worsened......
It has been impossible to do any work on it.
Anyway, maybe I am in business again now....... we shall see!
After a wet start, the sun is shining now.......
What is happening with you, at your end?
All going well, I hope?

Good afternoon, Elle!
Great day here, not as cold as earlier in the week.
What is "rebooting"?
I find that switching off the broadband at the wall plug for a couple of minutes, often fixes glitches.
How old is your computer?
Maybe coming to the end of its life span?
Not much going on with me.
Just had two books delivered, "The Unreturning Army" and "Undertones of War", both about the Great War.
Still waiting on "The First Hundred Thousand" which I read many years ago.
Are you serious about asking your daughters to pay for your shoes?
Well, I am off out.
Have a card to post to Miss O'Hara.

Hi, Rusty!
We have been out , too.
Just got home again.........beating the darkness!
The computer seems to have calmed down (for now) and is still operative.
Rebooting is stopping and starting again.
I shall still ask my daughter to take a look......
I don't think you have got the hang of this Christmas present buying, Rusty!
We adults all consult each other as to who would like what for a Christmas present.....
If a "surprise" is required , then that is what happens!
But often someone might like something specific....this could then involve the giver choosing and buying said gift...
Or , on the other hand , the would -be recipient might buy their own present (say, were it a pair of shoes that needed to be tried on) and then give their intended gift to the donor to be wrapped for presentation on Christmas Day!
( I am thinking that I might have my shoes as a Christmas present!
So I shall not see them again from now till the Big Day!)
Is this followable? or as "clear as mud"?
"Father Christmas " of course visits the young ones.......
Your books sound interesting.......
I thought Miss O'H had already had her birthday?

Hello, Elle!
I opted out of present buying many years ago, Elle!
This year I have asked the young ones not to buy me a present.
But, I do like a card from them, and the dogs.
No, I follow your family tradition quite well.
If it works for you all, then fine.
My books are very interesting.
Jess Varnish is suing British Cycling and UK Sport for the way she was treated.
Hope she wins!
Miss O'H has her birthday in July.
This was a "Congratulations" card.
She represented her school in a "numeracy" competition and did very well!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I think our gift buying system works well - it means that if a family member has a yen for something specific, his / her dream can be granted.........
You give your grandchildren money for Christmas, don't you...........that is similar in a way to asking what some one wants and buying it for her/ him , don't you think?
Both ways give the recipient a chance to "choose" their personal present!
Poor Jess has had a hard time...she deserves a win over B.C!
Well done to Miss O'H for her success in the Numeracy competition!
She will be pleased with your card!
"Chromosome" and "Minsk" so far appealed to me in today's Cryptic!
But it is not yet finished......I am late with it today because of my computer problems!
(Daughter will take a look at my computer on Sunday)

Thanks for the great clip Chris
Lehrer was a genius and brilliant pianist. He will be 90 next April. My husband was a great fan.
His song where he names the elements to the tune of G&S Major General is a Tour de Force

It was arguably libellous, though, jazzy - Lobachevsky was a famous mathematician (as was Lehrer, though not famous for his maths!)
