Hi, Rusty!
How is your son?
Did you have a good chat?
I have been looking at photos of Stonehenge sent to me by my daughter.
They enjoyed their visit there this afternoon!
Tonight they are staying at a Premier Inn.
She says the rooms are a good size; and everywhere is clean and comfortable!
That is good!
Tomorrow, they head over the border to Somerset.......that is, if my Geography is not leading me astray......

We've always been impressed by the rooms at Premier Inns. The food has been a bit hit or miss, though!

Good evening, Elle!
My son and his family are grand, thank you!
Yes, we had a good old yarn.
Yes, I think Stonehenge would be well worth seeing.
What is the attraction in Somerset?
Your daughter is correct.
My Norn Iron friends often stay in a Premier Inn just about half a mile from me.
It is a converted and extended farmhouse.
They sing it's praises!

Hi, Rusty!
Certainly great pics of Stonehenge! - and of the small ones posing!
My daughter and family are heading off to Wookey Hole Caves and Cheddar Gorge tomorrow......and I am thinking that both these attractions are in Somerset?
Am I right in thinking that Wiltshire lies next to Somerset?
A converted and extended farmhouse sounds a very attractive proposition in which to stay!
I have never stayed in a Premier Inn, but somehow I had assumed them (obviously erroneously) to be very modern buildings?
We have stayed in a few Ibis Hotels when travelling, and these proved very efficient and pleasant.

Hello, Elle!
I am not sure where these attractions are, and I shall pass on Wiltshire and Somerset!
I know Somerset is great for the cider apples, but little more.
I used to visit the farmhouse many years ago.
It had an adjoining farm shop.
It has changed out of all recognition now, though.
Now, according to the Wall Street Journal this week, my home town is in the top ten places to visit....in the world! https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/1754378/dundee-top-ten-hot-destinations-walls-street/
Is it April 1?

Hi, Rusty!
The photography does make Dundee look most attractive!
Is that the Beacon that I can see on top of the hill?
It is quite an honour for your city to be ranked as number five in the World!
What I do find amusing is the grouping of some of the supposed top ranking cities ... Dundee........ Shanghai........Kuelap?
So disparate.
How ever would one go about comparing them?
I think the new V&A Museum of Design will be a big draw in bringing visitors / tourists? to Dundee in the near future.......

Hello, Elle!
Yes, that is our war memorial and beacon on top of the Law.
The Law is our extinct (we hope!) volcano.
You probably know that law is a Scots word for hill?
The view is from the Fife side of the river at Newport-on-Tay, looking North.
Goodness only knows who or how was that list compiled!
The V&A is already bringing visitors to the city and it is not open yet!
It is a pretty unique building!

Good morning, Rusty!
It is an absolutely glorious day here, but has become exceedingly chilly.
It is great though to be going out for early morning walks again!
This is by far my favourite time of day.
Looking, in that article, at the photographs taken of Dundee.....
Is your village south (west) of the city then?
I am trying to envisage where everything fits?
You are certainly in a lovely spot.
We have quite a drive to hit "proper" countryside - and water!
although we have several large parks and commons nearby, so in that we are very fortunate!
Right....coffee and apple - and cheese - needed!

Good morning, Elle!
Lovely day here and we had frost earlier!
Was 3°C at 6 o'clock.
Looking at the pic, I live on the North Western outskirts of the city, behind and to the left of the Law.
The rail bridge is to the left, upriver.
One of my favourite summer walks is along the Waterfront.
Always something new to see.
I tried to get the original article from the Wall Street Journal but it is subscription only, to access anything, so I left it.
Good luck with your puzzle!

Hi, Rusty!
There was frost on our car windscreen this morning!
The temp when we went out was 8C.
I am still trying to picture the Law, the river, the city etc........ it is very confusing!
So you are north (east or west?) then of Invergowrie ( where my friends live)?
I have not had chance yet to do today's crossword, as we have had an unexpected visitor, who dropped in unannounced mid- morning....and has only just gone home!
A very nice surprise, but it has thrown me all out of gear!
I do have a left -over clue from yesterday's QC though, that I cannot parse.......if you are able to help.......
What 's rook released from throat? (3)

I am assuming it must "caw", but have no idea why?
