Hello, Elle!
Yes, a good clue. Well done, the setter!
You will learn from these, though, all part of the learning process!
That seems sensible what you have arranged.
Your dog will appreciate you being fit to go walks again.
I have a hospital appointment to keep, tomorrow.
My annual visit!
Hopefully I will be just in and out again.

Good morning to you, Rusty!
A damp, yet still mildish, morning here.
I was up late, out late, and am now feverishly chasing my tail........
I have just finished towelling down a very wet dog!
One piece of good news though...I arrived home to find all the crosswords awaiting me!
Now, your hospital appointment ........ I thought you had told me that you had been discharged? With the door left open to pop back if you encountered any further problems?
Maybe I misunderstood......
Anyway, I hope all goes well with your appointment today!
What time do you have to be there?
Right, I am in dire need of a coffee......

Good afternoon, Elle!
A fine cold morning here!
Yes, I agreed to be discharged from another department.
Today's appointment was with a different department.
I attend annually.
So, I was there earlier today.
That's good you got your puzzles.
Not sure if I will find time for mine today.
Have a couple of wee chores to do yet!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Still wet here....
I am planning to go out later...but will wait a while (maybe up to an hour) to see if the rain stops.
I have a dog to walk, and an order of cat food to pick up from our local Pets- at- Home.
I hope all went well at the hospital?
Do you have to wait on the results of tests?
That is what previously would happen when my husband had his regular hospital check ups........
But then he was discharged into the care of his GP, who has now taken over organising the occasional Chest Xray etc.
It is good to know that an "eye" is still being kept on the situation.
I thought the puzzle a good one today!
By that , I mean I filled in all the grid, and parsed all the clues!
Unusually!

Hello, Elle!
A lovely day here!
Yes, all fine at hospital.
Had my usual tests.
Bashed with a wee hammer, all over, etc!
It was at Neurology, I was.
My consultant is super!
She is very happy to discharge me, but if I want to see her once a year, she is very happy with that, too.
So, I chose to hang on to her.
I think they are brilliant.
Could not wish for better treatment!
Well done on your puzzle, Elle!
I have finished it, too.
Thought 17a, was very good.
But at 28a, never knew "ding-a-ling" was a mug?
A good puzzle, though!

Hi, Rusty!
I am very glad to hear that all went well with your check!
Yes, I understand perfectly about keeping up with annual checks...... it gives feeling of reassurance that all is still under control.
That is why I was so pleased when , after telling my husband he was discharged, the hospital Consultant wrote to our GP to "hand over the baton".
Yes, it was a satisfactory puzzle , wasn't it?
Re 28a, I think "mug" in that context is referring to a stupid or an eccentric person?
Do you remember Chuck Berry and "My Ding-a-Ling"?
Although his "ding-a-ling" was "Silver bells hanging on a string"...........
Your son will be visiting you soon?

Hello, Elle,
Yes, my son should be here any time now.
Never heard of anyone being called a "ding-a-ling"!
I was never really a fan of Chuck Berry, but I loved Fats Domino.
Elvis said Fats was the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
And Elvis was not too bad himself!
Excellent obit in The Times for him today.

Hi elle
It's charming that you think that Chuck Berry's "ding-a-ling" was actually "Silver bells hanging on a string"........!

Chris, I didn't think it necessary - or appropriate - to refer to the double entendre.....
