Hello, Elle!
Yes, La Bamba was there!
Two fine golf clues, I thought.
I have 3d to parse, still!
Plenty time, though.
Racing is very good at Ascot.
Just bet on one horse today.
Churchill in the QE2.
Hope he goes well!

Update, Elle.
I have nailed the parse to 3d
An unknown term to me formed part of the clue!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, "he'll hole" and "th(e) rough" are very good!
I am now down to only two parses left!
But one of these is 3d.
I have "throw a wobbly" = rage
I did wonder if it were a partial anagram as "hot war" forms the first part (throw a) but that leaves me with "wobbly" and I cannot account for that?
The other one on which I am stuck is 15d: ennobled = gave title to
Please can you explain the rest of this?
I am admitting defeat.......
What time does Churchill run?
I shall cross my fingers.......

"wobbly" is the anagram indicator

Now you have lost me here, Cerasus....
How can a word that is a part of the answer, and does not appear in the clue, be an anagram indicator here?

15d (John) Donne (the poet, reversed) around b(ook) le (the French)

Posted in hallgreening's thread by Brackendale
THROW A is an anagram of HOT WAR
WOBBLY is the anagram indicator
So a THROW A WOBBLY leads to HOT WAR

Sorry if you thought I was shouting. I copied and pasted Brackendale's post without any alteration

Cerasus, I really appreciate your efforts to "enlighten" me, re 3d, but I just don't get it...
I thought the anagram indicator had to appear in the clue , not the answer?
I seem to have got my "values" confused?

Thank you for 15d- couldn't see that!
