Pigale, the Eurosport transmission for Le Tour has started here. Greg LeMond is discussing the first stage.
He thinks it will be Tony Martin or Tom Dumoulin today.
Weather is nice in Utrecht.
I have my golden yellow polo shirt on today in honour of Le Tour!

Pigale, sorry I forgot!
"Drookit", meaning soaken in Scotland, may come from Old Norse, according to Chambers Dictionary.

It is an African rider who is first off in Le Tour.

Hi again Rusty,

Don't know if some laptops don't come with built-in cameras - check with your Granddaughter.

If you want a French version of Chromebooks for Dummies, I could send you (via Norah of course) various small books on 'informatique pour les nuls' !

I have never read any of this series of 'pour les nuls' which cover a variety of subject, so don't know how good they are.

Pigale, thank you, but no.
I have had only a very limited education and speak no French, apart from "Le Tour French". Anything I do know has come from sticking my nose in, and asking.
Elle, thank you kindly.
I shall investigate the Dummies book.

You may have had very limited academic education Rusty, but you appear nonetheless very knowledgeable in many subjects - self-education calls for respect.

Very nice of you to say so, Pigale. I do my best!
Great ride by Rohan Dennis to go into yellow!
My man, Cancellara, was third.
He said, "Maybe the time of the old lion is past, and the young ones are coming through!" A gentleman!

My weather has turned very pleasant.
I am going to download a weather site to give me the conditions in Holland and France, for the Tour.
Is Accuweather good for Europe, do you think?

Hi Rusty, as you had said, a good for US guys to do well - well they are 1st and 3rd place

T. Pinot did not do badly though ?

Terrific heat over there but that was to be expected - It has been our temps for 6 days on the trott and we must have sent it to the East.

There are not many days outside France, so I would advise to just type in METEO FRANCE and there you can see general and local weather, and you can even see the rest of the world if you want. You needn't download anything.

I tried Accuweather but did not get very far with it, no idea why.

When is the actual cobble day - is it 8th or 9th July?

Hello, Pigale.
Yes, a quite satisfactory day for everyone except Tony Martin, who many thought would win.
It was quite a technical course which suited Cancellara, who rides like a madman through the corners, anyway.
I shall try Meteo, yes.
The cobbled stage to Cambrai is on Tuesday, 7th July.
Tomorrow it is crosswinds and into the sea at Zealande (not sure of spelling!) and on Monday the finish is at Mur de Huy. So, a very tough start, Pigale.

Very tough indeed Rusty but once they are along a bit of coast line, then a bit in Normandy and Britany, they might be able to race of course, but under easier conditions, particular with regard heat.

Then after the team time trial they have a rest day before attacking the Pyrenees (where it might be hot and perhaps also humid!)

T. Martin hinted that the heat did bother him very much - I guess some people cope with it better than others .

By the way I watch the UK weather every day by googlng BBC Weather forecast!
