Double update, Rusty!!
Stan is out to Daniil Medvedev - to whom I must apologise for confusing his name with that of a Russian politician!

Hello, Elle,
I watched a bit of Heather Watson's game.
I saw a bit of Venus Williams earlier.
She looks very thin?
What is going on with her?
It is a fine evening here.

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, we have a lovely evening, too!
My friend is now back from holiday and will come to collect the dog for me in the morning.
That way she can have a long walk!
All I have been managing to do is hobble to the nearest park bench!
Mind you, the dog has been very patient!
And I am sure I shall be back to normal soon!
I miss my long walks!
I haven't seen Venus Williams for ages? but I thought she was always on the slim side?
Has she lost weight?
It is Serena who has always been the more heavily -built of the two sisters.
Did Venus win her match?

Hello, Elle!
Yes, you should try and walk as much as you can, is what I think.
To me, Venus looks unhealthily thin compared to what she was before.
Serena was a good bit chunkier, yes.
Venus has won, yes.
Have you finished your puzzle?

Venus is being held responsible for a car accident in which someone died. She apparently "violated the other person's right of way". It was a collision at a junction.

That would probably be enough to make anyone lose weight.

Hi, Rusty!
I cannot walk all that far at present...I have been keeping on my feet, yes, but the dog needs a lot of exercise , which is why my friend will take her tomorrow morning for a longer trek than I can manage.
I shall take her for a shorter walk later in the day.
Yes, I had finished my puzzle when I asked you about "shoebill"!
That was my last one in.
19 d took me rather a long time though....I spent ages trying to fit in "st" for saint, when only "s" was required.
I didn't know that "s" was an accepted abbreviation for "saint"?

Hello, Elle!
I had a look at shoebills on YouTube.
They are evil looking creatures.
They are in the stork family I believe.
And they do live in swamps.
For me "s" has always been the abbreviation for Saint.
"St" is usually for street.
You know best about your errant toe.
Could the GP give a clue about what is causing it?
There are loads of books on Amazon about gout.

Rosalind, you may have a good point about Venus.
I suppose food has not been at the forefront of her mind.

We saw a shoebill when we were ferning in South Africa a few years ago. They look even more sinister in real life!

ST is the standard abbreviation for "saint" in English; in Italian it is S, and SS means "saints".
