Hello, Elle!
Maybe you can watch yesterday's programme, if you missed it?
I can go 7 days ahead to plan programmes on Sky.
I think the Brum tournament is the Aegeon, or a name like it.
Did your engineer call yet?
It is a lovely day here.

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Our engineer has just left!
A very nice pleasant young man who rang ten minutes before his arrival to alert us that he was on his way.
The boiler got a clean bill of health!
I also had a Hydro Flow fitted to the water pipe, which helps to soften the (very hard) water that we get here in London.
It is a simple device and a quick fitment - done on the spot - and only cost about £160 for part and labour, so it seemed a good deal.
Down South, we have a lot of problems caused by hard water- such as pipe corrosion and damage to washing machines etc.
This will help prevent that. No need to use Calgon.
So all in all, a satisfactory inspection!
Beautiful day here, as well.
Are you going for a walk?

Hello, Elle,
Well done, the engineer.
I did not know about the water problems in your area.
I think we have good water here.
It comes from lochs to the North of the city.
No walk, I am home for the day.
It is a nice day here!

Hi, Rusty!
Well, I figured that at that reasonable a price, it was worth giving the device a go!
When I consider how much more shampoo, soap, washing up liquid etc I use down here to counteract the hardness of the water, rather than I did up north, where the water is soft, it seems a relatively cheap expense, don't you think?
Have you done your crossword?
I had a lot of trouble in parsing 15a:
Fast? For Nancy it's slow (4)
I have "Lent" as a double definition - fasting period; and "lent ' is the French for "slow"
But where does "Nancy" fit into this?
Nancy isn't a French girl's name.....which I had thought of to give "lent"?
It is a diminutive of "Anne"?

Hello, Elle!
The rough is wild at Erin Hills for the golf.
The setters often use tricks like Nancy or Nice to attempt to throw you!
It is not Nancy the girl, but Nancy the French town.
"For Nancy" means how it is said in French.
Nice policeman could be "gendarme" rather than a friendly bobby.
D'you see?

Elle,
Angers is another French town that pops up sometimes.
Now, back to the golf.
Rickie Fowler, one of my favourites, is leading, but a long way to Sunday evening!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I do see....which why I was expecting "Nancy " to be a French name.......but I knew that it was English (from "Anne")
The problem was that I just didn't know that "Nancy" was also a "place", in France, as opposed to a girls' name!
If you've followed that somewhat convoluted sentence?!
Put it down to my lack of Geographical knowledge - my French vocabulary ("lent" for "slow") is much better!
Now I need to look at a map of France......
Will you be able to watch the Oslo DL? Won't your son be with you at that time?
Shall you record it?
( You see, that is the disadvantage of the EP Player, for me - I cannot record anything. It has to be watched there and then.)

Thank you , Jazzgirl!
Another gap in my Geographical knowledge!

Good evening, Elle!
Ah! I see!
You did not know Nancy was a town in France!
You will know the next time, and watch out for Nice!
No, the golf takes priority over athletics for me, Elle.
My son was here.
A pity your Europlayer does not record but I am sure you will watch the really important stuff on it.
A fine night up here.

Hi, Rusty!
I am glad that you had a good time with your son.
Is he a golf enthusiast too?
Yes, I managed to watch most of the Oslo DL, only missing the beginning because some friends called round.
It was a good showing, with just a couple of instances to tell you about......
Dafne Schippers made a very distinctive false start, but appeared to be indicating to the officials that the crowd had disturbed her.
To everyone's amazement - and Steve Cram's disgust - she was allowed to race.
And duly won!
But it was later announced that she had been disqualified.
Steve and Stuart Storey thought that was fully justified!
The other outstanding feature was that our own Jake Wightman won the 1500m!
Manangoi came second and Lewandowski third.
Wightman did well against many distinguished runners!
Charlie Grice, another Brit came sixth.
(I had a good picture, too)
How is Rickie Fowler doing?
