Good morning, Elle.
Fine dry day here with a bit of cloud.
I am not sure why you would expect me to know of Rapunzel?
Lucky you with Theresa May!
The less I hear of the incompetent woman, and Arlene, the better!
The Times is a good read, though.
I get the Scottish edition but I am sure yours will be very similar.
Plenty of puzzles in it.
I was away on the other side of town earlier.
Had photos to take at a cemetery before the wreaths were taken away.
What ho with the toe?

Hi, Rusty!
I suppose I just expected you to have come across the story of Rapunzel in the past, when reading fairy stories to the children.......
........if not to your sons and grandson (the boys might not have liked tales of damsels in distress!) but maybe to your granddaughters?
I am on a roll this morning!
I have done both the QC and the 15 x15 - barring two clues in the latter.
They interlock and I am presently stuck......5a and 7d.
Everything else also parsed!
And yet I could not do yesterday's puzzle at all!
Strange, isn't it?
I take exception to 4d, but will say no more in case you haven't yet done your own crossword.
Also, a shocking homophone in the QC, "hoarse" is supposed to sound like "horse"!
It certainly doesn't the way I say it!
My toe / foot is improving, thank you!
I am thinking it will take a while.....

Hello, Elle!
No, I've not read fairy stories to anyone.
You are doing well with the crosswords today!
I will do mine later.
I have a couple of things to do including buying a birthday card for a granddaughter which I forgot to do this morning.
Horse/hoarse has cropped up before.
How about this question in today's quiz.
"Which London Underground station is the southern terminus of the Victoria Line?"
How would I know?
I got 3 correct from 15 questions.
My record is 4!

Good afternoon, Rusty!
Have you been out to buy your card?
Whose birthday is it?
I tend to buy family cards in "groups"!
For instance, when I go to buy one for a grandson, I get all the boys' cards for their varying ages for that year.
Then another time when I'm buying a birthday car for a daughter...I'll buy two different cards at the same time...one for each daughter........
The same for birthdays for sons- in -law, various Wedding Anniversaries etc... etc.
It cuts down a bit on the number of times I should have to go to the card shop!
The only thing to do then...is to remember where I've put them for "safe keeping"!
Brixton is at the Southern end of the Victoria line...but, as you say, why ever should you know that??
I do not feel like any more walking today, so I shall go into the garden and throw a ball for the dog...
I can sit on the bench seat...and she can bring back the ball to me!
Exercise for her...rest for my foot!

Hello, Elle!
Miss ATW.
Are you not watching the tennis? EuroSport 1.
I should buy cards in bulk!
I get mine in ASDA.
Actually, I get almost everything in ASDA.
And agree about the "safekeeping".
I try to buy smaller ones as I know there is a postage difference and I have no way of telling which card is 1st class or 1st Class Large.
Thank you for Brixton.
At a guess I would have thought it more central to London.
When I complained to the Times before, their answer was to buy an Underground map!
Honestly!
I would not "rest" your foot.
It is designed for walking which may speed recovery.
"America's Got Talent" is on later.
I shall record it and see what I think of it.

PS Elle!
I have just finished my puzzle.
5a is the name of a Civil War battle.
Your Civil War, not our friends across the pond!
The boy has the same name as one of your favourite runners, in time gone by.
If you need a hand just shout.

Hi, Rusty!
Happy Birthday to Miss ATW! (when it comes!)
Regarding the size of envelopes.........roughly speaking (I've just measured one) you can send up to 9" by 6" for ordinary First class - anything larger than that costs more as it is classified as 1st class Large.
(if posting, I buy smaller and send it Second Class, anyway!)
I'm not actually "resting" my foot!
I took the dog out for an hour and a half 's walk this morning...and have been on my feet doing jobs on and off ever since.
But the NHS website advised (for gout) exercise, as you said, alternated with "resting and raising" the foot.
So I thought I'd go out in the garden, stick my foot up on the bench.....and entertain the dog!
The name of the runner is Seb!
So 5a must be Naseby?
I still cannot do 7d.......
I have B?R?I?O?

Chambers Word Wizard only finds three words, elle, so it should be easy to decide (and then parse, hopefully!)

Hello, Elle!
There is nothing to measure cards at ASDA.
So, I just go for small ones.
Our NHS website is very good indeed.
Good advice on it.
Why are you in the garden?
The athletics are on!
I think Seb was chancing it a bit for a boy's name?
I've never came across a Seb.
7, Well, "burro" is Spanish for donkey.
"it" is in your clue.
That gives "burrito" which is Mexican food, I think.
I have heard of it, but never tried it.

Good (if you like chilli), rusty! I thought that (or the plural, in fact) was more likely than the other ones Chambers came up with.
