If anyone is still posting on this forum I am new to it and new to this quiz too. I am struggling with numbers 2 & 4 & 8 which must be very easy as no one else has asked for clues. If anyone is still posting please agave me clues to these three and put me out of my misery.

Hi larissa and maggiesue -
2 anagram of gone with gg( horse) = a drink
4 seven consecutive letters with in the clue = water ice
8 first 3 letters of a month + co(company) + it = fruit
26 ch(church + anagram of times = a scientist
28 anagram of 'leap to d' = young creature
34 anagram of weight = ct (for carat) + 6 letter word for secret = name for a jewelled collar
It's all in how you 'read' the clue. Hope this helps you both. Good luck

Thanks Winnie - I got hung up on "colt" or foal" for the young horse! I must be particularly obtuse today as, try as I might I can't think of a fruit ending coit - is it an alternative spelling?

Thank you very much Winnie, I have them now. I still have nine more to do but don`t want to ask for clues just yet --- so more head scratching for a while :)

Winnie, I must have been very tired as well as obtuse - it came to me the instant I sent the last message and then I couldn't believe I had not got it weeks ago! Thanks your help, I still have about 6 to go but like Larissa, would prefer to work them out myself. I may come back to you if that proves impossible.

I`ve found another 7 of mine, but would appreciate clues for the last two:-

11) Gabbing about the Stock Exchange changes (3,4)
44) It`s lucky the tom-cats have not started prowling (6)

Thanks in advance

Hi Larissa, 11 is an anagram of gabbing - a phrase used by stock exchange (and also the beginning of everything).
Could do with hint for 42 & 53
