It may help you to know that 3d could be easier if you take out the comma, it's only there for surface reading purposes pal.

I was being much too "clever" with 29d - I though "odd semi" meant the word would end "sm".

Another look at GK's hint and I at least have an answer for 3dn now - I can see at least one word in the clue that is relevant!
