Ah, well GK, The clue at 3d is a touch of lateral thinking for the Def and a real Doh! moment. Chris's 78d is one that you need to know something about Linford Christie which i didn't know myself when Chris sent it in, but it is fair if you know this about LC, hope that helps

Think I may have yours now; still feeling very ignorant about L.C. despite googling!

Hi GK,

I can't give the answer but I'm sure Chris won't mind if I give you an indirect esoteric hint.

"Have you seen the work of Thomas Heatherwick?"

I've really enjoyed this - thanks to all (especially Les), but I've ground to a halt in the west (29 and 30dn, 42, 46 and 55ac - and also the 3dn from Les that has troubled others). Is it possible for anyone to give a subtle hint on one of the ones in the west to get me going again?

29d (which will give you initial letters) - "free" is a verb not an adjective and there is an anagram involved.....

Chris: I can't guarantee anything I say is correct as my version has not been corrected, but I suggest:
30d Think Greek drinking!
42a Def. senseless
46a Who pays alimony? Synonym for "to fudge"."Correction" in an almost painful sense.
"Texas style" etc:play with the letters of "raw deal" (but I don't get the rest myself: may be wrong)
And thanks for eventually teaching me a lot about LC in your antepenultimate clue (can't type numbers for the mo)!
And one more last word: assuming you finish, make time for G (Orlando) today: I found it quite challenging & original!
And to everybody: enjoy something that will help your digestion!
