Thanks Quisling, I am annoyed that I missed the bleedin' obvious as there has been a spate of such clues coming up lately!

Happy Sunday everyone.

I’m struggling today. Still have 6 clues to solve 6a, 7d, 16d, 19d, 23a and lastly 26a. Pointers would be really appreciated. Many thanks

Thanks to Everyman.
I found this mostly gentle, but struggled with 5 and 26, the latter mostly because I wrote in a wrong solution for 17.
A couple of clues might not please purists, but that's par for the Everyman course.

26 is a homophone (Loudly "plead"), definition "Merlin's (some question the necessity of this) victim"

Hi Nunoesque
6 a female spouse without last letter, stopped by “a”
7 d words for outburst anger and dad all backwards give you a pre prandial snifter
19d think Cockney rhyming slang for courage
23a replace first letter of word for liniments with a n for new to give you word for fancies (ideas).
I think 26 a has been covered already.
Re 16 d I am less sure but the last three letters are a word for dessert backward and the rest I think is a pronoun for man and a three letter description of a clumsy fellow.
Hope that helps.

Managed to finish, but found it harder than usual, I think.
Reassured to see some seasoned solvers also saying it was tricky :)
Have to admit some only partially parsed when I entered the solution.
Found yesterday’s prize impossible, so this was a nice relief :)

I’ve been a lurker here for a while but drop by to see the Everyman responses most weeks. Now registered! This week was tough and a few poor clues I thought whereas last week managed it in less than an hour. The setting does seem oddly random at times and DanWord had to be asked on a few - hope next week returns to normality!
