Staring at 26 a , still not getting the parsing?

So Pasquale has set the Genius, Prize and now Quiptic all in the same month. If he were to also set a mid week cryptic, I wonder if that has ever been done before? 🤔

Well, a number of people said 7d was FOI and a gimme. For me it was the second to last one in (last being 13a, a new word on me). So one can imagine how loud a sound the penny drop moment made. How could I have missed that?

Good morning Cruciverba ,I have been staring at it too ! I finished yesterday and hallelujah I think I’ve got it. Quite complicated but very clever . The answer reads as a word in the clue without its head which happens to be abbreviation for ambassador .
FOI 7d LOI 26a COD has to be 26a but liked 5d too

Still don't understand 26a - three of us have spent an hour on it. Understand the ambassador abbreviation and putting that with the answer gives you another word, but that word isn't clued anywhere as far as we can see?

Can someone put us out of our misery?

The idea is that you remove the first three letters of the answer from heart and get the usual abbreviation for an ambassador. Innocence being the definition. But to work it requires a particular meaning of reveal, namely the last one in Chambers, “to allow to be seen”.

So read it as:

Ambassador is shown by heart with such innocence

Hello all. If anyone is still attending to this discussion, could we have some more explanation of 26a? We get the ambassador point but can’t see how the whole answer parses.

The definition is innocence.
Working back, if you were to apply the answer to the word heart, then you end up with the two letter acronym for ambassador.
For “ambassador reveals”, read “ambassador is revealed by”.

Many thanks jono. I think there is less to the clue than we were thinking. The last eight letters describe a state of not being. Not sure the clue is fully accurate in its expression but here we are on Thursday still wrestling with it!
