Jono, I looked in the Guardian archives and there are 338 entries for Pasquale. I don't know for sure that every entry was a puzzle, but surely most are at least.

Well, it must be an easy one as I finished. I can't parse 26a, but there's only one word that really fits, so I've gone with it.
Phew! A real workout for me!

Well I thought I was going to breeze through this as I filled in the top half with nary a hesitation or a google. Well, I did have to check 13ac as I'd never heard of it. Then I struggled over the lower half and can't quite parse all of six of them including 26ac (I can't remember the abbreviation for ambassador - is it his excellency?).

Like you Chris, I'd never heard of 15d and I can't fully parse it. I also nearly got caught by 25ac trap like Brendan, but I was sure of the parsing for 18d. I still can't parse it along with 21ac, 24ac (do the first four letters really mean dog?), 17d, which seems to be a letter short. I didn't know an alternative latin version to 2d. (I nearly gave that one away.)

My FOI 11ac, LOI 24ac and COD 16ac, though I also liked 19ac, 5d and 23d.

Hi, roof. Yes to your first question. Re 24, the first four letters are "dog shooting off round." And in 21 the "a lake" goes first with "girl" by it.

Roof, 15d is 2,1 inside 5, if that helps. First 2 words are definition.

@Roof: 17d, yes I know the word better with an extra"d" as 8th letter, but this form is also valid, and parses as 1,1,5, the 5 being an anagram.

25 parses as 4 shortened to 3 inside a 4.

I've finished unusually early, before coming to this forum but after using the Crossword Solver on a few including 13 (NHO).

Personally, I'm still not happy with 15d, though I know I have the right answer.

15d - the word surrounding "the Spanish litres" is a proofreader's "sign of something missing".
