I don't know about anyone else but this was almost a perfect Saturday prize. Right level of difficulty, some brilliant clues and great misdirection. Thanks Arachne.

As stated the last three in the NW took me longest. Not surprised I didn't get 1a given the club reference. For a three letter word 2d was a tough one for me.

FOI 10a. LOI 1a. COD so many but I'm going 28a.

Enough said about the orange one and his veep. I only hope our PM starts to feel the same way.

Got there, I think, with the help of you guys in the forum, but not sure about 2d or 6d as I can't parse either.
COD 28a

Hi ronpegram
2d not entirely fair. Definition last word as a verb, but there's an unindicated and somewhat dubious abbreviation in the wordplay.
6 add letters to the beginning and end of your answer to give something that happens at the start of the day (hopefully!)

What an excellent Prize, solved after several revisits and thanks to hints seen on here (thanks to all!), and an anagram solver for what is a new word for me.

So many good clues but COD 14d raised the biggest chuckle.

Thanks to Arachne an happy weekend to all

Adaba. Is this spelling a hangover from long ago. It still crops up. For instance here. https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/blog/tag/addis-adaba/

4, 9, 14 still not done.

23 parsing?

All hints appreciated
