thanks, the honestman - I had missed the two one-letter words, and of course they proved to be the usual suspect ... I'm sure I've seen the quote before - perhaps coming up in a N Y Times flash, or maybe quoted in the Grauniad.

Must be ARMS (members) and I get that it's H for husband removed from harms, also headed by H. But not convinced. How does Cyclops justify this? What part of the clue justifies "harms"?
Not complaining - it's an awesome puzzle as always, last clue remaining and only one which I have not satisfactorily solved without seeking help.

Malone, you are spot on as always. I feel much better now. Need to get out more, it's I that's losing my marbles, not Cyclops. But then Malone sees through these things so quickly one might suspect that he/she and Cyclops are ... no, perish the thought!

JohnT, thanks. My earlier reply was very short, I was on a bus - and I didn't look back through the thread to see if the (H) Arms had been mentioned already. I admired you wanting to know HOW the clue actually worked, I often don't bother!

I did the puzzle last week, so didn't have to tax my brain much today. And no, Cyclops and I are not related.
