Ok, Thanks, I get it now. Very clever but I'm a bit disappointed that it didn't stick to the bits in the actual message as I thought that's what 'literally' meant. Yours grumpily but thanks Pandiculator for an excellent work out.

It does very precisely stick to the bits in the actual message!

Thanks Pandiculator. Great construction. Please can someone explain the wordplay in 9d to me?

9d, is first six letters of 8d, anagrammed (chronic).

Are we taking the literal meaning of literally - as pertaining to letters - rather than the more usual - verbatim - as used vernacularly today

All done, but the significance of the title escapes me. I don't think it is essential for the completion of the puzzle, but for the sake of completeness, it would be nice to understand it. Anyone out there kind enough to nudge me towards it?

The final words of one of the combatants to the other is the first part of the puzzle's title - ''and You'', could be all of us, perhaps (isn't that the gist of the transmitted message?).

Thanks lumen. I'd totally missed the significance of the ellipsis
