I've enjoyed this one all the way. Think I have the 43 cells but want to spend a bit more time there to check I haven't missed something.

My only bug bear is 24d (look through separate....) and 2 interlocking clues which aren't giving up their secrets. I believe the 4th word of 24d is extra and the last 3 are the definition. But can't make sense of the word play. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, all.

Whistler, in 24d. definition is "look through". You have the correct extra word. 'Separate' (5) about 'forgotten ball game' (2)

....and the magic of posting.... all done, all parsed.

Lovely puzzle. Thanks Pandiculator.

Have now exceeded my personal target submissions for the year so every entry is a bonus from here gently down to Xmas. Mind you, I could theoretically match Whistler's Mother's PB....so I can feel the competitive pressure mounting.

The PDM took a while but when it arrived I wondered why I had been so dense. What a great puzzle and superb endgame. Thank you, Pandiculator.

All sorted, including the highlighting. Really clever construction this, and some great clues. Except…

Two that I can’t parse, and one that I’m missing a letter for as I just can’t begin to unravel the clue.

23a is the killer. I have all but the second letter, and know what the sore word is. Only two words seem to fit, and neither of them would make any sense to me.

7d and 37a are the two I can’t parse. For both, I have the misprint and the definition, but can’t get the wordplay.

Good afternoon, quiz.

23 across includes the reversal of an 3 letter informal word for "sorry" - I had to confirm it on t'internet.

7 down truncated three letter word for "worn out" followed by three letters indicating "setter has"

37 across I can't parse the "half of cover" bit of the clue, but confident of my solution.

Thanks both. I thought it had to be that ‘informal apology’ but the plural of the solution didn’t come up on my Chambers app!
