The editor seems to have got his Prizes and his Quiptics mixed up!

For once I managed to finish this one in short order. FOI 22d LOI 10d COD 13a. A enjoyable but comparatively easy crossword

Samuipete like you I think this was my quickest finish, though like Geeker my first toe-holds were in the south and 1a was my LOI, I needed all the crossers! Funny how differently minds work.

I thought it was a nice change not to have any obscure words or over-intricate wordplay, as I have a lot to do today the early finish is very welcome. Thanks you Carpathian!

Yes, I also found it easy, but enjoyed it too. Thank you Carpathian.

I have never solved a Guardian prize crossword before 10.00 a.m. and without any help from the Forum!

Definitely at the easier end of the scale for a Prize Crossword, but with some elegant clues - excepting 13a which was loose.

Agree this was easy, but that makes a pleasant change for us! Never finished inside two hours before. FOI 26a. Not sure on the wordplay in 5d though...

Without a doubt the easiest Guardian prize puzzle I've ever done, and perhaps the easiest Guardian cryptic I've ever done (not counting the quick cryptics, of course). The main comment which comes to mind is "disappointing"; not that there was anything wrong with any of the clues, and some of them were quite enjoyable, but just that it wasn't enough of a challenge overall. FOI 17d, LOI 4a. My COD is 9a, which I thought was quite clever; I see I'm not alone in liking that one.
