Wow. Thank you. I would never have solved that: ever. Even with your help I had to google it..

Last week I saw you asked if using anagram solvers and similar aids is cheating.

Well I do sometimes.

My justification is that I would work out the anagram eventually, so a solver saves time. So important in this busy pressured impatient world!!!

And see my post at #40. Took me ages today.

I've been doing Everyman since my mum introduced me to it about 55 years ago. Back then I might finish half of it. Now i can usually finish, with help from anagram solver, sometimes missing letters, and this forum.

How is the rest of today for you?

The rest of the crossword baffles me, but I have managed a few of the down clues from 1a

I was once told (many years ago) that there are two types of knowledge:

Knowing the answer and knowing where to find the answer.

I agree, Swarb and Steve. I think that identifying firstly that there is an anagram, and secondly working out which words (or parts of words) make up the anagram, is more than half the skill! Like Yevrah, I do sometimes use anagram solver to save time.

This was hard, but I was able to solve (I think) the clues except for 5d and 6d.

Assuming the second word in 1a is the obvious, but I'm not certain or that.

I noticed some previous hints about 5d and 6d, but they didn't do the trick for me, possibly because my second word of 1a is wrong?
