What an odd looking grid! I'm not sure we've come across this layout before in the Everyman, but I'm pretty sure Jono will be able to tell us more on this.

Really enjoyed this and absolutely loved the long rhyming pair and the homophone at 10a made me laugh out loud 😂

A few musical references but not enought to constitute a theme.

COD - Other than those mentioned above, I particularly liked 1a, so I'll pick that.

Thanks to Everyman for an excellent puzzle on this 25hr day...or is it 23 - I always get confused!

Stay safe:-)

Sorry, for the COD I meant 16a not 1a (as I said in the Prize blog yesterday, I spilled some hot chocolate on my laptop keyboard and now the number 5 and 6 keys don't work!)

Liked 16a too. Spent inordinate time on 7d which wasted chunk of extra hour!

7D was my LOI and I stared at it a good while before penny dropped. I know two songs withnear-identical titles with Vermont in, and this made me overthink.

What a lovely start to a long Sunday. Pretty much a write in. LOI was 22a.

That was brilliant. 7d was my LOI but I was pleasantly surprised to finish this much quicker than usual. Nice start to the extra long day. 14a may be topical given what is happening on Wednesday. Liked the rhyming pair. Have a lovely Sunday.

Very good I thought.
Hi Brendan, the grid is a rotated version of the one used not that long ago in 4,067. It follows the Everyman principle of 28 clues which I think I’m right in saying all his most used grids have. It’s not from the Guardian grid library so it must be something he likes using.

BTW, something to look out for (and possibly it’s next week), is the 300th puzzle by the current Everyman. Some may recall that the 100th and 200th puzzles were marked in some way in the grid. The 200th was number 3,972 and next week is 4,072, so…
