well I had the fine bit with the additional letter and I assume the first part is the knighted biker but my Chambers is in France and the word isn't in the online version ...

6d - Can powerless protestor continue in front field with guard for

I have the answer and know what the extra letter is but, as far as I can see, all the letters are accounted for. There's a 4 letter "continue in front"' plus the "powerless protester" and all that goes around/'fields' "with", so where is the extra letter? The only thing I can think of is it's from "can" but, if that is so, then it would read "an powerless protester..." which surely can't be right - what am I missing?

Brendan, in 6d, def. is the last 5 words. You need an abbreviation for 'can' (toilet)

So for one clue and one clue only, I decided the extra letter had to be removed from the clue and not the answer- seriously, what is wrong with me! 🙄

don't think I've come across Claw before but, assuming I'm right about 25, there seem to be an unusual number of sports and sports commentators involved ... maybe I'm just sensitive because some of them appear in a poem I recently wrote about the Olympics.
