Thanks for the comments everyone, good to know I wasn’t alone in tussling with certain parses (6a esp) and solutions.

A fairly leisurely but quick solve (just over an hour) and throughly enjoyable.

12d my FOI which provided a decent backbone to get started. 21d was a struggle for some reason and this quickly led to 22a which was my penultimate solution, and also my COD.

Still stuck with my last entry 15a and don’t think I’ve seen anybody refer to it in this thread. Any chance of a hint?

Hi Paul,

15a - 4 letter anagram/'broadcast' surrounded by/'clips' 3 letter "work out" (as in 'understand') - definition is "part of service" (religious, though might not be well known outside that)

Morning all, a fairly lengthy solve this one.

I've been searching for more meaning in the Nina but failing. There are some other things going on. 11a has a fitting word running down from the 6th letter, as does 10a with the 5th letter. The word with 11d also works with the Nina on rows 1&2.

I also found myself googling 9a row1 7d and wasn't immediately laughed out of down. I suspect 15squared will provide some hidden depths to this.

Great puzzle.

I too have now finished it, his wordplay style had me for a bit but got there . I'm not happy with 10a or 8d, and probably have not got them right?
I like those Ninas top and bottom, certainly helped figure out 3d.

Hello, this is the first time I've posted on here. What is a Nina?.I was absolutely stuck on 4 across, and 5 and 9 down tho got everything else. I know Brendan or Geeker gave a clue for 4 across but it didn't help me enough I'm afraid. Duh! Some hints would be appreciated. Thanks.

Dynamo back today, supporting the dynamo=monday* hypothesis.

This has several hallmarks of an established setter (imho)… in any event it’s a nicely crafted puzzle.

Lizzies

Nina

If you look at the unconnected letters at the top and bottom, they spell out a word. In this puzzle, they go with the words below and above the nina.
