I think you found a third 's'?

It's not a very elegant clue. 'Stuff 'em' is an imperative or maybe a verb with accusative, but 'shaft' is just a verb in that context. The ''em' bit is redundant. Cyclops is being looser than usual in a few clues here. I'm still not feeling precision in the 28 across. Where's the 'boozer at heart' in Australia? Is it Al? 'seems very loose.

Ginkerooni, I think the 'boozer at heart' leads to the Oz, Austrslis, in the middle of the word 'boozer'.

PS I have got used to Cyclops' looseness at times, and often don't notice it now!

Yesss. I am confused too about thiss. If the third s comes from "it's" then the grammar is wrong. Sinful is an adjective and the answer is a noun or a verb.

Malone, I think it must be 4a. I suspect that a red herring is being pursued through a mare’s nest.

I am finding this current crossword a bit trickier and looser than previous ones. I need 29 across Cyclops is backed in Tory rebellion (smaller faction) (8)and 20 across What the red-carded player did is untypical (4-5) It looks like the first word is either left,lift or life but what I don't know. Help me enjoy the rest of the weekend please.

20 The red-carded player Left (the) Field, and Left Field means untypical.
