The clues...
Requests for help should normally include the clue itself, the number of letters in the answer, and details of any you already have. Any additional information or special instructions, common in Listener puzzles, should also be included.

Hints only, please, no answers.

The theme...
Help towards the theme may be sought here. It's intended that this 'help' is a nudge, a pointer in the right direction - enough to assist a struggling solver, not enough to spoil the puzzle for others.
Any post which reveals too much of the theme is likely to be removed.

There are many regulars on these threads, but newcomers are always welcome.

The Listener is a unique puzzle and should be treated with respect.

Was chugging along quite nicely til I hit the NE corner. That bit has taken me a long time and I'm still short of a couple.

A Classic, and a very good puzzle to go out on.
RIP Dysart, and thanks for the enjoyment you've provided over the years.

This is the first time I've found the title helpful in solving the puzzle.

Will37 - Well, I understood the title - but only after having solved the puzzle!

But isn't that the best way to get a title? A last satisfying PDM clunk. As drxx says, farewell Dysart - you were the source of many hours of fun and not a few frustrations on the way. Just as it should be.

Have run into the exact problems in the NE corner as Harry, but too early for hints.

Also, is 27a an &lit clue? I ask because it seems to be all wordplay.

Brendan, I struggled with the NE corner also - not helped by my overlooking the last clause in the preamble.
I also found that 8d. if entered in full, doesn't show a result in my Chambers apps. It only shows as an extension of the first 3 letters.
I took 27a. as &lit.

Thanks Mattrom,

I filled the NE corner now but there a few I can't fully parse, like the outer 2 letters of 15a, assuming the middle 3 are "staff turning" - but early days so I'll think on some more.

I see what you mean about 8d but, as you say, it is shown as 'pap' after the first 3 letters, although I have no idea what that stands for!
