I have an answer to 4D but I can't see the parsing: any hints?

3 letter for a leg around a 2 letter doctor and a single letter from Livingstone. Berkshire isn't the county.
My favourite!

Neither am I moonjets.

I've done about half, but a number are guesses. I can't seem to parse many of them. Some words I don't know. I've guessed 19,22, but I'm none the wiser about the theme.
My excuse is that I'm suffering from Sciatica. I think the pain and the drugs to stop the pain are all preventing me from thinking. I think I must have the wrong word for 24d as I haven't got 28ac.

But like Rocky I think I'm not on Brockwell's wavelength. Perhaps I can have a few hints.

5d I have the last letter; 12ac - is this the same word as 18d?; 15d I have the last letter of first word; 7/27 I can't think of this author, I have the second letter of the first word. I can't even think of the answer to 1d despite the reference to where I live.

I may be back or I may give up.

Hi Roof

I'd never heard of the author. American apparently. Anagram plus a very well known British car inside. Think of one of the most obvious from 60s and 70s. It's also a theme word but if you're not a fan of 19, 18 it wouldn't mean much. 5d is also themed but a word for any type of ritual or celebratory event. Anagram.

Hi roof
5d is a clever hidden
12a and 18d aren't the same. 18d is the second word of the (rather obscure) theme.
I had heard of the author, but I haven't read her. Part of the answer is an anagram of "notion"; the rest is a (thematic) old make of car.
See earlier hint on 1d.
Not one of my favourite puzzles!

Yes hidden. Not anagram. Apologies.

Thank you to Rocky and Chris

I went away and made some progress including getting 5d, 15d and the author. I'd got 10ac wrong, which didn't help. I've also got 14ac, though can't parse it all. I can't parse 12ac, though I've got an answer. Similarly I've got an answer for 1d - oh, I've just seen why! But I can't explain 9ac, oh I might have seen that too, but I don't like the synonym for insufficient.

I've got two left. 28ac, where I changed my spelling, but still can't see an answer. I have a?o?s. And 23d where I assume the definition is tighter. I have C?O?E? I can't see bum. I can guess at an answer, but it is not satisfactory.

My FOI was 13ac. I think my LOI will be 28ac. My CODs were 13ac, 15d and 26ac

No, I don't like Brockwell

14a one of the Spice Girls cut short inside one letter for love and three letters for total. The last three letters are thematic when combined with the last three letters of 20a.

12a also a thematic when preceded by 13a. First two letters are a reversal for record, then the rest is a word for steps missing the first letter.

I have to say that I saw the love and the total in 14a, but have no idea whatsoever about the Spice Girl!
