Many thanks Chrise, Rogissimo & Jono. 23d quite obvious once the ridiculous typo was fixed!

I still cannot see what is going on with 5,1,15 but others clearly can so I shall continue to ponder it.

Have a great weekend all!

chrise: I didn’t divide it up in that way. I read the last three words together (if that makes sense!)

@Chrise
5ac etc
see nothing loose about this (in fact possibly my COD), the last two words are a complement to the first two

hi again rogissimo

Is 7d just a lengthy definition? Or am I missing some wordplay?

Lengthy definition Castafiore. I once read that US comedian Gary Schandling was the first person ever to use that expression.

Last one in was 9a on account of having 2d as Dias, as in Cameron Diaz, say. So wrong letter misdirected me till I came back to them. Can't parse 5a etc. Definition a little shaky too. My dog sitting on the sofa is an environmental process which a hoover sorts out every so often.
