A trickier than usual Everyman but not so much so that it would cause too many problems, as there are lots of anagrams and primary letters etc. to get you going.

I didn't spot any rhyming pairs and was a tad disappointed that 1a wasn't put to better use and used as a possible theme.

My only query is in 12a where Chambers gives the answer as meaning "theatrical direction" but the clue has "theatrical farce" - If there are any thespians out perhaps you can enlighten me:-)

Thanks to Everyman for a fun and entertaining puzzle.

Stay safe:-)

It’s the “alliteration grid” and 12a is the name of a specific work.

jono answered just as I logged in.
Michael Frayn, it ran for a long time on Broadway.

Alliteration rather than rhyming pair from Everyman today. Slightly harder than the norm, but gentler than the last couple.
COD tie between 19 and 4. Forgot to write down FOI and LOI.

FOI 8, LOI 4 (guessed quickly but didn't parse and enter until the end).
Also liked 5, add that to the co-CODs.

Good day everyone. That took a lot of brain power, very few clues were straightforward for me, but ultimately made finishing even more enjoyable. I could not understand the symbol in 1a and could barely read it on my small phone screen, so that did not help me.

Nevertheless, good fun, harder than average I would say. I liked the three geographical answers. But COD for me is 7d.

What a relief after yesterday's Prize! I like a challenge, but that was just too much of one and I lost interest. This was challenging but do-able before morning coffee, as Everyman should be! Happy sunday all

Well after yesterday's mauling by Kite (DNF) I was ready for a more gentle offering from Everyman but it took a good hour to finally complete. Highly satisfying solve with quite a few tricky wordplays. LOI 11a for no good reason except that I was being particularly dense. 6d raised a chuckle and I enjoyed the long anagrams. Thanks to Everyman and happy weekend to all.

some question marks:
10a the 's gets in the way
16a the bit after the first letter doesn't mean "was anxious" to me
1d where do the first 4 letters come from and where's the definition?
9a product placement?

I liked 4d very much

@chrise

10a agree
16a agree
1d the bit you don't like in 16a should give you a clue. The definition is the whole, I would say
9a no comment
